  • Aw, shucks! I got more than enough credit, considering how much of the process I was absent for. It was the rest of you guys that did the heavy lifting. I'm very glad to head that the book was appreciated though. We hope to learn from it for future releases, too.

Quote from PTG-Lucky-Sixes: “@Niedfaru - do you think you might be able to produce music to go in the background to some of these vids? It would be awesome if we could shows off your talents and have some music that was very appropriate to each faction/location. ” I'm provisionally in, but it will depend on timescales. Include me in the messages (calls will be insane to schedule, given that I'm GMT+8 and I work afternoons and evenings), and I'll see at that point.

  • Quote from DanT: “@Marchosias I would just to say thanks for the tone, content and delivery of your post There is a lot of very constructive and useful feedback in your post, about things that you like and don't, which will be helpful to the team. And it is delivered in a very "grown-up" and helpful fashion, which makes your appreciation clear, whilst not shying away from being critical where you feel it was needed. I don't even care whether or not I agree with you criticisms, because the delive…

  • Quote from Marchosias: “LAB for Infernal Dwarves, page 83, chapter 3 of the vocabulary: "idzhur" is translated as "low" but "Gu tetar idzhur" as "The price is too high". Should it not be "Gu tetar idnaz" instead? ("Idnaz" means "high" according to the vocabulary, "tetar" means "price" and "Gu" seems to be some grammatical construct to open sentences.) ” Good eye. But this actually correct. I know you'd expect the opposite, but that's how it's said. Quote from Marchosias: “LAB for Infernal Dwarve…

Well now... there is more work to be done before that's possible, and I'm not making any promises, since we have to work on the languages for all the other factions too, and it all takes time. But, there is a strong possibility that more information on these languages may be forthcoming in the future. I will caution, however, that much like Quenya and Klingon, you'll never be able to speak these languages properly - only enough to impress other nerds. For example, in Quenya, it's possible to say…

Well, that's if you don't count the proto-languages. I have to say, I probably made more work for myself than I needed to to get the same results, but I've learn a lot from that for any future projects that need my input.

Hmm. OK, that's a short project I can work on very easily. I'm envisaging something like the camera sweeping slowly across the art we already have for the epic, I'll write some atmospheric music using some horns and some middle eastern strings and drums, and I'll narrate the story in the original Abzhaghab. I can handle all audio for that easily. The video element may require more research. If anyone has advice on that I'd be happy to hear it.

It's possible. It will require a good deal more planning, and for some languages a lot more grunt work before we can get to the actual recording. But it's definitely an option I've been thinking about for a long time.

I have been toying for a while with trying my hand at voice acting, particularly the more narrative style stuff rather than actual acting for animation, and have been doing a bit of research. I also have professional audio recording and processing equipment and software, rated for music rather than speech, but I'm sure it can be adapted. I have made some very basic videos - a picture over the music I wrote, and uploaded them to Youtube. So, I'm not a pro, and I don't know how much time I'll have…

  • "Naptaan" is the native Naptaan version. "Naptan" is how it often written by Vetians because it happens to sound similar to the original and fits with their own linguistics biases. Ach, no it's more complicated than that. Actually, the language is Naptaan, the demonym and genitive form is Nempat. But, the fact the Vetians regularly write Naptan instead should be proof enough that the regular get it wrong.

  • I concur. Looks excellent. There are some minor errors, namewise, but for something made without access to internal fluff, this is superb. Another example of the community doing great work. ☺️

I think Ghiznuk makes a very good point here, and we should definitely consider it. There are other considerations that go into our naming, mind you, and not all the names are actually the names the native people would use. Having a seemingly different alien name for a foreign culture, that is alien to both your culture and theirs, is not wholly impossible even in the real world, but there are usually reasons why that would be the case. You can be sure the Ancient Egyptians didn't call their gov…

I tried searching for this, but I can't find it anywhere. How do you stop lexicon tags appearing in text. I don't usually have an issue, but I don't want one in my signature. :p
