  • My opinion on this is this: this is a tempest in a teapot. Like negative comments on a restaurant, people hardly detail their good experiences, but everyone gets hung up on their bad ones. the freedom we give hobbyists, and the benefit that brings far outweighs any negative that I’ve seen. i regularly see far more amazing and original creative armies, than lazy abuse of the system. But everyone focuses on the few negatives because well, outrage fuels the internet.

  • Right, but my VS list is predominantly GW, spread across 30 years of design. They mismatch quite a bit. My IoB models don’t match my monopose 90’s, which don’t match my Goodwin metals from the 80’s, which don’t match my monkey rats from the 2000’s. same is true for a lot of Orcs from the oldhammer era (my 40k orks suffer this). i love the mis mash, but if these minis were different brands, some of the people would call it an ugly eyesore on the purity of their toy soldier gaming. so the whole ar…

  • Quote from Morrigan: “A great post by Shield Wolf, and it resonated with a lot of stuff I have personally thought about for a long time about the 9th age. A lot of people would like their wargame to be officially licensed and supported by a company, this has been an issue from the very birth of the 9th age. I also understand that: companies have deadlines so the rules and armies are released when (or at least close to) supposed to, it is in some way easier to accept rules "from up high" than fro…

  • Quote from bas_2312: “Quote from piteglio: “tnx guys for feedback Quote from bas_2312: “That price seems doable production-wise. No need for anything special. ” agreed, that could be doable, but with a caveat: only if there's at least a couple thousand people buying it.the more people participate, the more i can keep retail prices low. hence the market research.in the end, i'll have to go with something "as low as the community reassures me with". if ten thousand people put their hand on their h…

  • Quote from Kal: “I've been trying to keep up with this thread but I'm going to throw my two cents out. Maybe we are in a weird position where I am, small city in Canada but we managed to convert every single WFB in our province pretty much to play T9A and since covid started we even dragged in three players from my DnD group that hadn't played since 6th edition, two selling points were the books get balanced. No more one broken character or build you have to spend 5+years with it in the meta. An…

Weird, cause I haven’t touched my sig in years! oh well, thanks

  • Before covid, I was set to run a quickstarter (now EoW) demo game at a local convention. Upto 6 players, 1 hour of time. Dwarves vs vermin. it’s really easy to do guys. As for terrain? nothing in the book saying you can’t make it different. I’m fairly certain it actually says to arrange it as you see fit. The generation and maps exist as options, not hard rules. it’s a game guys, if you’re playing beer and pretzels, modify it as you see fit between you and your opponent!

My empire army is based around 8th age humans. So more 700-900AD in style. crusade miniatures makes some really good looking dark age crossbowmen. seem like that would also suit your concept.

  • To paraphrase Carl Sagan: Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the wargaming Universe, are challenged by this history of being spoonfed content. Our game is a lonely speck in the great enveloping wargaming marketplace. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to do the marketing for us. There. That’s your answer.

  • Wait, people are actually making money on tournaments?!

  • Quote from Pellegrim: “Quote from Art_of_War: “Enjoy a cool background story ” Quote from kisanis: “This literally sums up my current t9a situation ” Because you live in a parallel universe? ” Or because it’s 100% subjective and I didn’t like the whfb world? But I like the more believable societies and geopolitics (you know, that stuff that causes war). The T9A world makes more sense to me from a wargaming perspective. There’s better reasons for conflict. Like, our dread elves actually live In b…

  • Quote from Art_of_War: “So what does the "typical casual player" want: - Have nice minis that are up to date - Buy everything in a store nearby - Enjoy a cool background story - Have a big local community to play with T9A doesn't offers anything all of that. ” ftfy. seriously. This literally sums up my current t9a situation, our local game group, and FLGS’s Oathmark, GW, and historical figures (and others). All from local shops, I like the world of t9a, and it’s stories. And we have a solid grou…

All those ice stuff and icy mambo jambo are too high fantasy for me. What scares me the most is that there clearly is a strong connection between the Total War and Old World projects. Games Workshop is definitely tasting the ground. And fanboys are everywhere, guys. They hide among us. They pretend they are enthusiast 9th Age followers, but …

  • I still say it’s either going to be a war master revamp (small scale) or a port of the LoTR ranked battles, with a whfb skin overtop. they will be selling new minis. They will not a game for old usable whfb armies, not in the same way. GW will want you to buy the new. That’s their modus operandi for good or for bad.

  • Quote from Mr.Owl: “I was excited to learn that lawyers have fallen downward on the "Least Trusted / Most Disliked" list. They have been overtaken by "Journalists", while Politicians remain at the top, most of whom, are lawyers. ” *laughs in lugar*

  • You can't copyright a triangle. you can register as a trademark a VERY SPECIFIC triangle. But a triangle of 3 overlapping sticks... you'd be laughed out of court. @Mr.Owl am I lawyering right?
