Hahaa possibly true. I did come up with them somewhat on the fly so it's possible, just possible, that there are a few flaws in design. I was trying to encompass some weaknesses lol. No aegis save, fearless so can't flee, no fighting in extra ranks potential, two weapons choices remove shield and the other removes parry so they should still die fairly well. And of course, they'd be an expensive unit that won't help ID score objectives. So it's not all gravy.

Fair challenge. But... is there confidence in the model? I've not come across one in tournament play myself. There's one in the WTC but that is out of 10 ID lists... Maybe it's just a pricing thing and with a tweak to his cost he'll be OK. Personally I think he's not a competitive option next to the rest of your character section and he needs something extra to give him the push he deserves.

It makes sense thematically as he's opened the citadel and wants his unit to flaunt it. This guy and his specific unit should be showing up and showing out imo. ” No can do. No unit buffing characters allowed. ” All @Crazydwarf suggestions are really fun, if a little OP and in need of some refinement, but I think they do mostly fall down at this hurdle too. I get the selfishn…

  • Sorry! Was trying to combine the themes of the Overlord not being used much, as seen from my experience of playing ID reglularly as an opponent, and an improvement to Keys that could change that.

  • That's dumb

  • Really interesting topic. My mate plays ID and I don't think he's ever played an overlord against me. One reason is definitely because he just doesn't measure up against my king. So, personally I'm a big fan of removing the arrogance rule and replacing it. My favourite is to simply expand his other rule, the Keys. Expand it so that the overlord gives weapon master to whatever unit he's in. It makes sense thematically as he's opened the citadel and wants his unit to flaunt it. This guy and his sp…

Forgive me @xaby86. Adding a new beardling to my Clan has been rather consuming for me. The little fella is a tad demanding and has sadly affected even my own normally prodigious assiduity. But there are two questions I would ask now. There maybe more later. I've heard stories of clans to the north who have forgotten about their worries and their strife. They say these clans are isolated, living off the bear necessities, in close communion with nature. Some say the very creatures of the mountain…

  • This is outstanding work @Squigkikka. Its all really interesting and definitely the direction I too think DH should go in. A unique magic phase that the entire army can benefit from. I like the songs and the words but I especially like some of the unit special rules. The WM special rules are all really interesting. Final sacrifice is truely inspired and my favourite I think. The "of clay, the flesh" rule is intriguing and I'd be interested the playtesting results for something like this on a [M3…

  • We all want DH warmachines to be be better but there are a variety of different ways of doing so. More damage output and better survivability are just two. I personally favour the idea of less damage but more reliability. ID dwarfs have already taken a step in that direction with Accurate on its WMs. And they're dwarfs who walked away from the Holds and have experimented with their industry to improve damage. I feel DH need to really lean into the whole Guild Crafted idea and should favour somet…

Quote from Omarcomin: “I think DH infantry need to lean into the gimli quote about being dangerous over short distances... we somehow need to charge more reliably over the limited charge range that we have. Sitting 13,14,or 15” away should not be as comfortable as it is for opponents. We will never throw a 17” charge but if you’re in range you’re in danger... This is the way. I think ID created the blueprint with vassals. If fear is a motivator for rerolling charges, surely dwarven stubborness i…

Guerilla Warfare is something MSU was trying to simulate, but somehow RT decided DH can't do MSU so... I don't know what we can do about this playstyle. ”…

Majority of DH army can vanguard/ambush/scout if desired, including core units. ” I'm not entirely sure you can describe an army ability as a playstyle @Jomppexx? Just because an army can go full scout ambush vanguard doesn't make it a playstyle. Playstyles are meant to be something that makes an army excel. Not something an army simply ca…

I'd rather I didn't have to cover old ground on an all too regular basis. If you make forceful points, don't sulk when those points are responded to directly and then later quoted again when you make the same complaints. Again. It's unbecoming.

The “buffs” we got in the balance patch were not as celebrated as they hoped I think. ” Please don't mistake silence on certain threads for absence. I'm listening. Also, ever hear the saying no news is good news. DH doesn't start forum threads about how happy they are with life. It's not in the genome. But these discussions have been had before. These themes have been raised before. And I've…

If I say casually “my army was destroyed by enemy machineguns, flamethrowers and lasercannons the other day” was I playing 40K or just facing shooty VS? DH is just slipping down the same path. The 5th edition Gyrocopter was at least adoreably crude and fit in with handguns and crossbows, but then came 8th edition with new total garbage models and rules and …
