  • The current separation of WS through Undying Will is ac actually decent method to showcase the difference between a soldier at the moment, and what the soldier could be, and it's something I'd like to see kept and even focused on further.

  • Quote from nomrakram: “unfortunately, UD is far from having Elite troops. Are you are referring to NG? ” I refer to a possible future, not the current day. That is what this topic is for, after all - Not for the shackles of the now, but for what's to be.

  • On random larger-scale musings, what I'd like to see would be the differences between UD and VC fleshed out more clearly, one an organized army with a dash of undead hordes in it, the other an undead horde with a dash of organized army in it, and those differences further pushed. While the dynasties are dead, dusty and shambling, it was once golden and glorious. While that's not exactly easy to bring forth in mechanical design, it should be at the very least attempted. While an unit of basic ske…

How do the Dynasties keep the bodies of the royals and nobles from crumbling over time, in the past there had been mentions of a sort of Chronomancy used by the priesthood, but were these rumors nothing but tall tales? How does the undead nobility of Naptesh keep itself entertained in times of wakefulness? Existence in a dead land must be boring for beings who still retain their humanity, if not mortality.

  • Quote from Eldan: “Hmm. Yeah... Different question, actually. How do you make something recognizeably a rail gun? In SciFi games, they tend to have the rails exposed so the guns are sort of flat, but most real world examples don't seem to look much different from normal artillery. Maybe I should make it an open coilgun. ” Use a length of spring, hardened with glue to create a wonky-looking spiral launcher. Something I did back when I was making artillery for an Ork army. I THINK I got my old spr…

  • Yes, it was made way back in the earliest iterations when UW just gave the unit the characters WS. Lahmians still being the UD descendants as per old lore back then. It hasn't been changed since and just exists as a wonky remnant now.

  • Quote from dan: “Frankly, this is why these sneak peeks are so dangerous. ” They're still really important to see what sort of responses units garner and help see whether they need a second look or not. More than a few terrible choices would have been made in design if not for the forums exploding at the sight of them in a sneak peek.

  • Quote from Aenarion43: “ Quote from Palmu: “Rather...Boring? Especially the bell. Seems to be a shared sentiment here. Poison aura is nice and very effective, but not something I'd cheer for. ” My experience with the Pendulum is that it’s terrifying to fight. Current record with it is 5 wins, no draws, 1 loss (I messed up that game). As for the bell, I’ve got a build with it that’s on my To Do list that seems REALLY nasty and effective. Can’t wait to try it out. There’s some naughty builds with …

  • Rather...Boring? Especially the bell. Seems to be a shared sentiment here. Poison aura is nice and very effective, but not something I'd cheer for. I'm seriously feeling a lack of proper, exciting centerpiece models for the rats. These things have the size right, sure, but not the OOMPH and 'oh no' factor. The current units practically distort space around them in how important and menacing they are, like a vortex in the middle of the less-important rat units, even on paper, but these things...I…

Quote from Shakin_Dudi: “too much points in Magic. You should take some more chaff instead . ” Lack of chaff, or moving parts in general, is the main issue aye. Leaves me open to way too many things. At least my previous two lists had that in spades, as much as I dislike Sphinxes they at least kept ogre hunters off my flanks. Of course, in my next list I'll probably overcompensate and fill the entire board with MSU, then suffer from headaches in trying to keep it all from forming a traffic jam.

Quote from IHDarklord: “You're still packing the Terracotta army? I must say I've enjoyed every minute of my army. Highly flexible, super defensive if it needs be and quite good at scoring small points. ” Yeah, I decided to give it one more tourney before trying something else, so I guess it's fitting that everything goes wrong. Going out with a bang, just maybe not one I'd like. I like your list as well, it's got a real classical feel to it. I'll be going back to my roots in the next tourney as…

Gahd damn this is starting horribly for me, I've gotten my teeth kicked in 1-19 in both of my first matches. It feels like my lack of maneuverability is really killing me, I get chaffed and combo-charged by things and there's nothing I can say about it.

  • The problem with forming a picture from half-remembered discussions. Oh, and I can't forget - More spotlight on the Chronomantic aspect of the dynasties, if it exists anymore in the background anymore.

  • What I'd like to see... Return of the Soul Colossus, less all-in ranged options, separation of Chariots into combat and ranged focus, Necropolis Guard split into a more elite Bodyguard type unit, and a less elite battleline unit. Also total revamp of Sphinxes but I've given up on this vision.

  • To muddle things up further on the slave undead discussion - The followers of Setesh. Like the loyalists of Naptesh originated and spread the art of soulbinding the world over, the rebels of Setesh could have done the same with Necromancy. While I've not much idea on where the eventual LAB will be taken, this civil war is still a very important part of the background of the book itself, but whether or not should be represented in the main book or an auxiliary, I don't know. But I do think that s…

Aside from niche use like that, yeah it's a meme option to keep the Settra chariot as it is available. One of the things I'd like to see in the LAB is to make it an actual option, though.

Quote from Kal: “Interesting about the sphinxes, if anything i would have guessed it was the new DE rule that makes them much weaker imo. I love them and always run 2-3, depending if i want a colossus. But they do get focused on and a str 3 bow shot ticks off a wound on 6's just like a str 6 ogre. An extra wound, better armour vs ranged or some magic resistance would be nice. They are made of stone afterall, and its living in the stone mountains that give dwarves their innate MR from what i unde…

Quote from IHDarklord: “It also has to be said that UD is clearly the top preformer of the tourney! Not what I had expected beforehand though. ” Hm? How so? From what I see, the top 3 UD are 3, 17 and 19. VS would be the top performer with placements of 1, 10 and 11.

Quote from Kal: “Just curious, why were the sphinxes such let downs? ” Constant deaths or losses of function in situations where it shouldn't happen. Especially in Terracotta, where a lot of things wound Sphinxes just as easily as they would wound NG, people often target the Sphinxes. And while you'd need 28 6's to kill the NG, the Sphinxes only need 5. And this does happen. Although not exactly the best example of it, my final match was a decent example - Spell-slinging DL took both Sphinxes ou…
