  • Quote from Baldin: “Oh god, Orc vs the one to beat! ” With so many attacks I really hope the Orc beats himself to death. 7 str 8+ attacks translates into 2 wounds on the Scourge due to parry and 4++, so best of luck

On a tangent, but related, has anyone had experience with the Unicorn build? I say The Unicorn build, because essentially there is only 1 build. I was quite frustrated when the Unicorn changed in the way that it did, because I quite enjoyed the old simple design of MR2 for cheap. And haven't tried it since. But a Shamanism Unicorn with Heroes Heart, Talismen of Shielding and Magical Heirloom could make an acceptable solo caster. Brings in 5 str 5 attacks, and is decently tanky with 4++ and shama…

  • The problem is, if you've brought a weapon nasty enough to kill the beast, unless you have re-rolls to hit, there is a 1 in 6 chance that that weapon is going to hit you. So sure, a doomblade lord COULD kill him, but there's not a small chance you end up killing yourself.

  • I think the program is perhaps a little bit counter weighted by the fact that the scourge costs upwards of 800+ points! But I'm glad he's pulling his weight, and the d3 wounds Kharn was probably one of his bigger threats.

  • I have had an idea for a no-mans land list which involves 3 wizards, 1 adept thaum with the book and 2 apprentices, 1 with tome of the rat king. Goal being to cast 2 swarms per turn, which they will let through instead of risking a comet. Then we have a stgyian overseer with map, and some Slaves for additional tunnel markers. So now we have swarms moving forward, and explosive tunnels being moved about. Then we have max ranged fire power, and pistol rats, who for some reason don't take tunnel gu…

  • Quote from Casp: “hummm lets try The Holy prelate from Sunna 435pts - Empire prelate / shield / plate armor/ the light of sonnstahl / Locket of sunna / lucky charm Rules, well: Hatred Divine attack Parry & save 2+ Swap with the locket Channel (1) Would cast ullor blessing if possible. 5++ @Alexwellace I am waiting for your Vanadra’s Scourge. ” The prelate definitely punches above his weight, bit I'm honestly not even sure the prelate wins! You swap into 5 attacks, and take the scourge down to 2(…

  • Are we including gigantic characters? If not, then Scourge. General. Mirrored Scales. Whipcracktail. Living Shield. Red Haze. Dexterous Tenticals. Hammerhand. Pretty sure he wins, against, anything. Maybe an Ancestor with Blessed Inscriptions and Paired Weapons. But it wouldn't hold my breath there.

  • I think it's fair to say that where pre-LAB had fixed guidelines, because everyone was done together, that LABs have a whole different, bespoke, process. Other factions have had their magic systems moved around a lot, and in the end I think we're as likely to get witchcraft as the team working on it are going to try make it work. At the moment we're pretty middle bottom tier in terms of wizards, I could definitely see an argument that there's space to expand on that in a LAB. If I was on the tea…

Quote from Squigkikka: “ I've never used them in units bigger than 3 granted, but I don't dare- they're too easy to kill to sink 475 points into. You practically need to drop for 1st, or this units meh-value skyrockets as you can't vanguard up without an enemy aiming every gun and magic missile within range their way. But if you go 1st, they're much less likely to be in a good position, so the vanguard isn't that desirable anyway. ” Something I've learnt as I've progressed with a mixed arms forc…

Quote from Squigkikka: “Quote from Alexwellace: “My thoughts? I think we're better against rats than most. ” Wonderfu-! Quote from Alexwellace: “Kestrals...amazing. ” F*ck. ” Are you not a fan of kestrals? I think a unit of 5 kestrals with a champ is up there with my favourite Sylvan units (alongside our dragon and dancers). You don't know joy until you see an opponenet sweat for an age, messing with their deployment, trying to ensure that kestrals don't have a way into his backlines turn 1. And…

Thought there probably deserved to be a thread on this! Hoping we can share our experiences, any fears, and any successes. I'll go first, as I've only played a single real game against rats a few days ago, and theory hammered a lot. My thoughts? I think we're better against rats than most. Theory hammer made me think this wasn't true, I saw huge blocks we couldn't shift and flaming catapults and flame throwers. But I think the reality is that VS are an incredibly immobile army. In a similar way …

  • Why do you dislike Spectral Hunters so much, have you given them a fair go? They're really, really cheap, and I think are in a really good spot. Sure, magic missile hurt them, but they're priced like fast cav anyway, and at least they get a 5++ vs magic. A unit of 10 Spectral Hunters with champion is a wonderful unit in a wider VC build, I think they're something you're perhaps not exploring well. As for the actual book changes, seems like you're adding restrictions in an already restricted book…

Just as a little exercise, I'd like to ask the community to do something for me. Pick a Sin, or Pick all of the Sins, and assign a non-core unit that you think fits really well into that Sin. Just as a reminder, that each Sin already has a Sin specific unit: Envy: Gremlins Pride: Glory Gluttony: Bloat Flies Greed: Horders Sloth: Hope Harvester Wrath: Brazen Beasts Lust: Sirens So consider that these cannot be given to other Sins. Instead, look at the special and Aves section, and give us an opin…

** Gnawing emptiness radiates upwards, outwards, scrabbling at the edges of your being ** ** Not so much a pit but a yearning, more more more more, ravernous expansion until satisfied ** ** Content, caught, full. Hmm, starting to feel a little peckish ** Overall-feel - Playing Gluttony should be exciting as well as temperamental as hunger waxes and wanes between meals so to should a Legion of Gluttony. Gluttony is a much more animalistic Sin than other, more societal based Sins, and as such Glut…

  • Thought I'd resurrect this! Soon I'll have my first chance to play in person for a long, long time, and I'm choice spoilt! Anyone willing to share some DL lists they've seen and liked, or have been excited about yourselves? Only thing I know I want to include is some bloat fly models!

  • I 100% agree that Kindreds are something we should explore far more heavily in the LAB. Now, slap my wrist and call me silly, but I'd be interested to explore the possibility of many, cheap, Kinband Leaders within our character section. So, ignore our current character section, since we're building it from the ground up. But imagine if instead of a chief/bsb we had a Kinband Leader, a 2 wound chief character who is sitting at a very cheap price point. Each of these Kinband leaders would have a 6…
