Quote from setrius: “Maybe is a good idea open a new section in the forum specific for Essence of War. That is all ” Quote from piteglio: “Quote from setrius: “Maybe is a good idea open a new section in the forum specific for Essence of War. That is all ” hi we currently have renamed the old QS subforum, it's: The Ninth Age > For Beginners > Quick Play / Essence of War do you mean you would rather want a EoW section, like now we have sections for Spotlight / TheNinthAge / TheHobbyHub / Armies / …

  • thanks setrius. i also think Scout could be interesting. playtesting will tell us if it is necessary from a design point of view, and feedback from new players will tell us if it makes the games more complex than we aim for it to be. we'll keep an eye on that.

  • i hope it is clear to everybody that: (1) we will publish all 19 fixed Rosters for basic games and all 19 modular Armylists for advanced games (2) our decision to publish 5 Rosters and 1 Armylist (and specifically those) was done for the reasons mentioned above tomorrow i will hopefully get the chance to further clarify that (3) the release of further Rosters depends on receiving qualified feedback (batreps) using the published Rosters so if anyone wants to accelerate the release of further rost…

  • Quote from nflqt: “Hello. I didn't quite understand the exchange below, but I don't think it answers totally my question that comes up. Excuse me if it does. I note that only the Daemon Legions, Ogre Khans, Sylvan Elves, Undying Dynasties, Warriors of the Dark Gods (and Åsklander in addition) factions present a pre-built army list in your alpha version. And I suppose you're just working hard on pre-built lists for the other 11 factions (+ the 2 extras)? Am I guessing right? Apprentice player (of…

  • Quote from Chronocide: “ Though I gotta ask, why include a picture of a Succubi and then not grant DL the option to take succubi in the quickstarter list. - art is expensive, so we are using the illustrations we have available - we asked for new illustrations, but the priority is going to the factions that have NO art yet, like the supplements - the choice of units responds to a web of gameplay constraints to which we cannot add the nature of the available art - a 1-to-1 mapping between art and …

  • confusion: the book is clearly flagged as alpha, and the accompanying release text states the motivations for its incompleteness. we can however add a clarification in the paragraph "structure of this book" - thanks for the suggestion. incompleteness: the reasons are given in the release text and in the two answers above. we want you to focus on mechanics -> less than 19 armies. we want to foster immersion -> only those exact 5 armies. completion: we will release more basic preset Rosters as the…

  • Quote from Chronocide: “Has anyone won with the DL list you've got for Essence of War? yes, see Chack's comment above. plus i think LJ won against RHW. you can watch the whole games on my twitch channel (veiloftheages) - but do that quickly, cos i dont have enough followers yet to make the videos stay on the channel forever. Looks like it would be really hard to win with, but I've not played essence of war. all the more reason for you to download the book, read it and give it a go. so we can get…

  • Quote from Lawot: “ What are your thoughts on whether the previous Quickstarter lists are compatible with the new Essence of War rules and lists? ” interesting question! will make sure to discuss this in the Q&A session. just let me know if you meant the first QS version (i.e. the one with the old one-line unit profiles) or the OpenPlaytesting version from a couple years ago (i.e. the pdfs with white background).

  • indeed, thank you all for your feedback! stand and shoot we considered this issue closely, because many of us wanted to see S&S into the game. however, the extra complexity it introduces is greater than it seems. for example, imagine adding the exception that no panic tests are done for 25%+ losses suffered in this case. we considered the issue and its ramifications, and after much debate we settled on no S&S, and balanced the fixed rosters (and the points in the armylists) accordingly. so there…

  • thanks RHW! but know that your kind words wont have an effect on the diceroller in your next game on TabletopSimulator : D btw, everybody, see you on twitch.tv/veiloftheages NOW for the last match of the week - Trakritch versus RHWorldbuilding

  • cheers : ) speaking of party! the BH - HE game between Rob and Chack is over, and we'll be playing another one on Tabletop Simulator in one hour! does anyone feel brave enough to challenge the Ruler of Pages, Master of Tables and Lord of Columns, a.k.a. Trakritch from the EoW team?

  • tnx man also, i dont want to sound insisting, but... we're having a great time with the current game! if you wanna join and say hello, here's the link: TWITCH

  • ...speaking of which: if you guys have feedback on specific points, do post it here. for example, something that came up in the ongoing match on Twitch between Chack and RHWorldbuilding: Q (Rob): Advanced Rules > Grimoire > Swarm of insects: Range 12" ?! A (Pit): typo. @Trakritch, please replace with 24".

  • not as far as i know. on top of that, since i like the independence of T9A (and as i said they still can be included, just in another form), im also not sure that i would be in favour of doing that. but then again, this decision is not in the hands of the EoW team, so im going to focus on other aspects of this release : )

  • Quote from Eru: “Quote from piteglio: “i think the gold BRB will also be on 2 cols, but probably LichKing can tell you more about it - dont wanna overstep my bounds ” I can tell that I am secretly working on a two cols layout for the slim brb ” the slim too? oh yeah, more great news today! : D

  • thanks - all hard work from Trak and Art : ) and the best thing is that this is all done in latex. so it's gonna be a breeze to give you the translated versions! i think the gold BRB will also be on 2 cols, but probably LichKing can tell you more about it - dont wanna overstep my bounds

  • it depends - if you're thinking of the official T9A free PDF book, then no, because T9A has to stay model-agnostic. but if you're thinking of a version of the book that can be printed by a company and sent to stores all over the world... ; )

  • Quote from piteglio: “ladies and gentlemen, the book is here. with big thanks to the past QS teams and the current EoW team, to the people on staff who helped us with a couple (hundred) issues, and to you all for your feedback and support. the-ninth-age.com/community/fi…8a233454a382951a6f8a27ec2 and now we're gonna have a good chat about it. join us for the release party: - if you want to watch: TWITCH - if you want to chat / play: DISCORD cheers, f ”
