  • Quote from duxbuse: “Another idea to represent the enemy not knowing where the assassin is. What if he was able to join a unit that's in combat. Eg unit A charges, then the assassin in unit B behind can march out of unit B and join unit A and then fight in the upcoming phase. ” Not sure where this would be beneficial? Unless it was he can make a move into a unit that has just been charged

  • Is their honor in an assassination to begin with? These are tradesmen, their honor is a job completed. I like the idea of him being able to hit any characters in a unit, like Cautls/damsels and what not too. That’s thematic as well!

  • What if he could attack into a dual? He could be a deterrent to challenging out our fragile characters on foot, and it makes sense that a trained assassin would take a distracted target on. The reality is he needs something to make him more than a character who just has different weapon upgrades. Taking away hidden was his only defining trait.

  • I agree, but I feel he’s already only being played in raven cloaks. He’s really not that scary against all the T5/6 1+4+ Characters.

  • What if the assassin’s poisons were more mild but if he was in a unit of raven cloaks, they also benefited from the poison?

  • Quote from duxbuse: “Quote from shadoweyed: “Quote from Nemeroth: “Quote from Giladis: “Would it be suitable for Raven Cloaks champion? ” No because it would mean throwing them into combats where they’ll get annihilated. Reason being is that beefy characters usually reside in dangerous units. Ravens are there to dance around and unload their crossbows point blank. ” The reason I see this question being asked is because while Raven Cloaks play this way now, doesn't mean they have to when the book…

  • So I’ve played about 6 games in the last week. My take away has been consistent: CC fragility makes any type of grinding impossible. If we are being pushed to mmu/MSU we will lose to steadfast/stubborn/body guard. I had so many combats where I got the charges I wanted, even in the flanks, would have an auto break but my opponent is either steadfast/body guarded. Then my combat capabilities fall off because I’m only good in round 1 combat, and my unit eventually loses combat or I kill the unit bu…

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “Quote from GSbasic: “I think I’m going to try and paint some beastherd gores with red / black to make them look demonic. I’m also working on some cracked earth effects to add on their weapons ” Tzangors is what I am using for Myrmidons. ” Nice. Yea I’m somewhat inspired by “the wheel of time” series and trolocs

  • Quote from Peacemaker: “Na, if you are going to start purchasing models I'd start with min sized squads and just use filler for back ranks until the book is out of beta. Especially if you are doing this as a small side project. I dove right in back in December. I had some of the classic Juan Diaz sculpts for Daemonettes and some Mantic Sucubi. But I got 40% off on GW product so got a bunch of khorne and tzeentch stuff. Was never really into Daemons before so I don't feel locked by the former Aes…

  • Quote from Shukran: “if ui have to purchase models 30ish succubi 30ish myrmid. 2 50x50 charcts 2 25x25 charcts 10-12 40x40 rnf To start ” This is what you would suggest purchasing first you’re saying?? That matches about what I see.

  • Quote from Donotask: “Hi If you played Dark Elves, like your avatar suggest, you can start with some avatars to get the feeling of things. Succubi can easily be played by blades of nahb and they are one of the best core units of deamons. Get two units of those and you're doing fine for your core. Then you need some monstrous 40x40 stuff. This is more complicated for elves but if you have some medusas they'll do fine as Clawed fiends which is another very good unit. A unit of acolytes can be play…

  • My point is that we have to create a target to hit. “Too much” vs. “too little” is how things have been poorly balanced in the past. So we are suppose to perform top 5 in magic, does that mean an average of 2-3 spells per phase? The average now is what, 1-2? But then is 33-50% more spells per phase and is that too much or too little? I guess I’m interested to get a feel for what the target is in your mind.

  • Quote from Squirrelloid: “Quote from xaby86: “Are you saying that enemies have -1 to disperse, DE has +1 to launch Hex and with master another +1? Don't you find alarming a difference of 3 points in a roll without paying anything, without magical objects? ” Only if it causes them to statistically win too much. ” How do you break out this data? If you create a rule that is suppose to make casting easier, then by definition it’s going to be “too much”.

  • Awesome. Yea I probably won’t pull the trigger until the book comes out of beta, and I plan to double up a lot of units as other things from other models, I’m trying to keep with a low model count so I don’t fill another closet with toy soldiers ha!

  • I’m getting ready to collect a fearsome hoard from beyond the veil, and I wanted to get a feel for things! The book looks great but it’s a lot to digest. I play elves so I’m looking to play a more smash face list for times I’m not feeling like trying to play real fancy. Any units that are stand out favorites?

  • Quote from Squirrelloid: “Quote from GSbasic: “Quote from Squirrelloid: “@GSbasic I'm not saying model aesthetics are the only thing, but you can't say 'no one imagines elves in plate armor' when there are abundant elf models in plate armor. Clearly those sculptors are people imagining elves in plate armor, and since these companies are actually still in business (and covers most of the major miniature manufacturers, so says something about what people want to buy), lots more people are supporti…

Elves don't archetypally clank around in heavy armour. That's dwarves and human knights (/evil human knights). So either embrace "elves get bonuses other than their armour being plate" or lobby to have that changed to "elves d…

  • Quote from Calisson: “Quote from Ozzy666: “I just had this thought - Apart from mounts and monsters the only non-elves are Medusas and Harpies. Medusa's rule set indicates Medusas are daemons, which makes them easily acceptable. But what about Harpies? 1. Are they an intelligent species? If so, they cannot be slaves (since DE don't use slaves for military purposes). So why do they fight for DE then? 2. Are they a sub-species/sub-breed of elves? If so, they wouldn't fight completely unarmed and u…

  • First off, I’m no rules writer so I’ll get just the basic ideas down. If you see a hole don’t @ me lol just re word it so it can be usable.... I’m the big picture type! Auxiliaries: If an auxiliarie unit causes a wound to enemy units from shooting, that unit gains “marked for death” until the end of the game. “Marked for death”- academy units gain +(whatever ADT wants) for first round of combat. DeathBringer: great weapon enchantment. If a wound is caused by the user, the unit gains death trance…
