The more social your game is the less dead time you'll have to stack your dead, I think that's a big factor. Some players like to check their moves or spells with you before doing them or ask questions about a potential combat if they were to charge here or there. If it's a friendly game they might even share some of their plans and run ideas through you. It's a much more involving and active game than most players think.

  • Quote from Remy77077: “Quote from Hombre de Mundo: “Free wheels and no more unit spacing ” What do you mean by Free Wheels btw? You mean Free Pivots? ” There might be more options (and maybe better options) but no, I mean free wheels like you get when you charge. Basically, you have a destination in mind and move to it and the rotation doesn't cost you anything. You still have to navigate to it, you can't just turn around willy nilly like you can with frees pivot. To make that difference meaning…

  • Here are two big streamlining changes that I think would benefit the game, but might have some large consequences I haven't thought of yet. Combine all saves into a Protection stat Right now we have three saves. Armour, Aegis and Fortitude. While they all have different weaknesses, they all work exactly the same. If all saves were rolled into one, you could look at lower armour across the board, with the mightiest units and characters reaching 3+ or 2+ AP (anti-protection) would also be lower ac…

I've learned to start sorting my deads into units on opponent's turn. I use magnetic transportation, so I just rank them dudes up half-heartedly on the metal trays. For this particular situation, I'd either bring one or two units extra so that they can be summoned, or sort the dead rats onto another movement tray, in case they get called back. So some preparation and discipline should help with this. The real trick though, is to have models that rank up easily. 6th edition clanrats are a nightma…

  • Hi there, Welcome to the forums. We have a couple of people (myself included) who do 3D modeling. There are some good threads on the topic, such as this one. Then, if you want to practice sculpting with others, we have an on-going community event to 3D model the T9A mascot, here. Calisson already answered your questions about the T9A icons, but I also wanted to give you a link to one of our army packs, to give you an example of what something with this icon and the "compatible with T9A" image lo…

  • Quote from Phosphorus: “Maybe we will see fancy new models, regiments etc...but hardly new (fancy, powerfull) gunpowder weapons (reasons see above). ” Oh, there's nothing wrong with your reasoning. It makes perfect sense that an older setting would include less sophisticated weapons. I just don't think GW cares

  • Quote from Phosphorus: “uhm,, you know, TOW seems to take place at an earlier era of warhammer fantasy (of cause) which means of cause..armies will be different (old fashioned in comparision ..of cause ...less developed). One would be able to use many miniatures from it´s old mini range, for sure...but I guess a lot of models won´t make it into it :):e.g. there won´t be steam tanks (yeah, yeah, I can hear the horrays )..most black powder weapons , and espacially machines, too..or at least are re…

  • Quote from McBaine: “Quote from Grouchy Badger: “I cant wait to pay 55 dollars for a rule book and then 55 dollars for the army rule book oh wait I have five armies thats 220 more dollars I have to spend just to play my damn armies. ” Since the TOW update and clarification said there will be two books, one rule book and one army book with all the armies in it, technically, you would only pay 55 dollars for a rule book and then 55 dollars for the army book. ” That's assuming they won't do what th…

  • Quote from Eldan: “They didn't take the game, they stopped updating it. Does an author take away your books if they stop writing more? ” Yes, though it should also be noted that fans are the best people to safekeep those originals because corporations oftentimes just do their best to ruin them. Disney has owned Star Wars for what, about a decade now? And the best version of the original films are all fan made! Project 4K80 is looking pretty good for this year btw!

  • Quote from Folomo: “If the intent is to make the game more accessible, a reduction in overall models would be needed. If in V3 we reduced killiness overall and made the game playable with 30% less models, it would make the game much more approachable for new players. ” You have an incredible range of model numbers, spanning from 400+ with armies like OnG or VS down to as little as some 20 models with armies like UD or OK. Check it: UD - 17 models: (Hidden Content) OK - 21 models: (Hidden Content…

If you're into 3D printing and want the groundwork for an African army, the upcoming August release for Titan Forge should be right up your ally! Here you'll find modular infantry, monstrous cav, fighty characters, spellcasters and of course the big trunky boi. 1.jpg

  • Quote from Ludaman: “I honestly feel like GW needs to see the headwinds coming soon and start offering 3D printing services at their stores. ” Absolutely. The 3D printing market for hobbies are completely dominated by Chinese manufacturing. If GW decided to jump in the game with printers and resins specifically made to get you the best Warhammer minis, they'd get real popular, real fast. They could launch their own digital subscription services (with extra bonuses for Warhammer+ members), which …

  • I don't think it's going to hurt T9A nearly as much as some believe. Quote from IntrigueAtCourt: “Even if TOW is inferior in terms of balance, depth and cost (as it likely will be) it will be a game that is supported by any GW and hobby stores, will have regular releases and recognizable fluff and art. ” Warhammer 8th edition has recognizable fluff and art. Many of the same models are still used in AoS (their webstore is full of 8th edition models) and new models that fit the old factions get re…

  • Quote from dan: “This is the part I can’t reconcile. I agree that GW is all about crossover these days, and they want models to be compatible across systems so that multiple sets of gamers clamor for the same box set. It makes perfect sense for them to scale the game for AoS players. Why, then, square bases? Old World players can use square bases in AoS (unless their basing standards have changed?) but surely if the game is to be a ranked game as is alluded to, AoS players couldn’t use round bas…
