  • Quote from CariadocThorne: “I just want to suggest an alternative replacement for the Lifeseed Feathers, using a similar concept to the current version, but as a melee weapon. This would be an enchantment for spear or sylvan lance, and either: - each to-hit roll of 6 is resolved as a crush attack, instead of a normal attack Or - The bearer may make a crush attack as soon as their normal attacks have all been resolved. Probably the first option. Edit: or combine this with the "Duckspear" , make i…

  • I quite like most of these items ! Few comments and propositions : -For Hail shot, we don't need autohit. we have enough high aim so that negative modifiers aren't such a problem. Also 18" is small. Better 1D6+7 -While I like the Duckspear, but that would make two enchants for spear. An enchant for any weapon (including hand and heavy) would be really cool. -Harp of season is overly complicated. Better a simpler effect against damage spells, or ranged attack ignoring cover/hard target for exampl…

  • Quote from Hachiman Taro: “One way to get an expensive thing is to layer several less expensive things in a synergistic way (and it gives you more options), just saying. ” yes, until the point where you just always take everything available and don't need to chose anymore. It's especially true since the number of combat items is limited.

  • Is it in no way possible to have distracting in a non-magic item option ? Mundane equipement, option, kindred ? I mean it would take an item slot and allowance, and we already have enough cheap items. We only have cheap items.

  • I don't underestimate the power of our wild hunter lords. They have really satysfying damages. But the elk hunter is the only build that you mentionned all. The shapeshifter are quite well disigned imho. They have an interesting role of infiltrator to get warmachines or archers. But they're in no way major fighter. About army and weakness, elves don't have strength in grinding, but they don't have a weakness that say they have to be always killable in a single round. About agility, You mean you …

  • Yes, a good one-turn blender. But you won't kill any serious character, you're as tanky as 3 gobs and a lot of other characters can dish out similar damages (while being way tankier). I wrote : Quote from Serwyn: “I think there is a lot of room to give more power to our characters, just not in first turn damage output. ” So the build you show (which we of course all know) is kinda off topic.

  • Sometimes, when I play casually, I Try to build cool combat char, because for me they are really narative, and epic duels make great moments. But when I try to make a character that can do the job, and reading other's lists and books carefully, here is what deceived me. Our characters are weaker that close to characters of any other book. They're just cheap (in the snes that they're not quality). Not even compared to a Chosen Lord, but when you compare with vampires (or dwarves, or deamon, or ph…

  • Removing pendant and having hunter honour in lance seems a good idea. Horn of the wild hunt isn't that bad, and after taking black stag and a weapon you have room for it on a Prince. Still think we need some not cheap general weapon and a combat artefact (maybe just stronger amryl's glyph) to get some real combat builds other than one turn damage Wild hunter.

  • Quote from Hachiman Taro: “Quote from Serwyn: “I'm still highly in favour of a "reroll failed to wound rolls in close combat" artefact, and quite a few people seems to like the idea. ” Sorry I forgot to pick up on this before - the idea is an interesting one, but is there a specific reason you feel we need it? The general feeling seems to be that our characters hit quite hard already, it's more specific use capabilities (eg monster hunting and duelist, ability to survive a round of return hits e…

  • I'm still highly in favour of a "reroll failed to wound rolls in close combat" artefact, and quite a few people seems to like the idea. Else, I like the dodginero cloak that reduces the number of hits.

  • Quote from Fnarrr: “Its worth noting archers have another cap, so that theorem doesn't necessarily work - but that's minor. More on point, in terms of output the bow is a fair bit higher than 3 archers: at long range its 2 extra shots hitting on 2+, which is slightly better than 3 archers hitting on 4+; at short range the hits are lower but the +1 to wound benefit to those 2 shots and the 3rd "base" one outperforms the 3 archers yet again. ” Yes I also evoked that limitation, and yes it is bette…

  • Quote from Fnarrr: “@Hachiman Taro that bow lets a must-take character (BSB) provide good shots that don't come out of the shooting cap; i know PF kindreds dont either (contentious issue for me, its why I left BT at the time) but since they cannot be BSBs at least the per-shot nvestment is high for them. Its basically bad design, where the only way to balance it on list level is to hammer it with price. I'd blind price at 75-80 myself (~3 sylvan archers), but the full 100 wouldnt surprise me. If…

  • Item To replace: Drums of Cenyrn Glyph of Cenyrn (50 pts): The bearer may reroll to failed to-wound rolls with its close combat attacks I don't think Drums of Ceryn are often used. Personally I never use it. A contrario,I find it hard to build combat Prince because it's reallt hard to fin offensive points of magic items. IN particular, since potion of strength and divine Icon don't exist anymore, you just take a usual 60 points weapon and curse of the black stag, and that's the end, you can't re…

  • It's probably influenced by playstyle and sensibility, but in my opinion HE's reapers make a really large difference. They're efficient, work very well with that kind of guerrilla playstyles and most of all are very reliable (because they will always do their simple job, you don't have to make complicated risky plans to use them, etc.). If we had some I would max them every single game, especially since for some unknown reason they are separate from other shooting. Being able to threaten/soften …

Serwyn - - Sylvan Elves (SE)

    Post

I would really like a unit with a rule like Sea Guards, but our archers aren't just generic, they have Sylvan Longbow, it's quite strong !
