Do you think it is plausible to have non-shapeshifter elves with R4 ? I doubt RT, or even the player base, would like that very much. It would certainly have a cost somewhere in the army if our characters get R4.

  • Quote from Arrahed: “ They would count as core and be a cheaper than altrnative (i.e. blade dancers). They would be able to threaten chaff, small monsters or light cavalery trying to disrupt the archers. They could be scoring darts, control some places on the battlefield and protect the flanks of our more potent fighter onnce engaged in fight. They wouldn't be more squishy than they are now but cost less, so prportionally less vulnerable to being shot. And even with stats like actual guards, grea…

  • Quote from Arrahed: “Quote from Serwyn: “Quote from Arrahed: “Having rangers in core would be nice, but I don't see them keeping adv 6, fearless, and 2 attacks at which point they become pretty bland. ” Yes, as core units should be. For now it's tha guards who are bland. Imho the opposite would be more original and work better. I would play more of both of them. ” But what would be the role of rangers then? They'd be pretty slow, super squishy, and inferior combatants compared to all other SE op…

  • I would also prefer to swap Rangers and guards. It would be more original, as other elves both have spear in base and heavy weapons in special. It would let guards get bodyguard/S4 and better fulfil their role, and Ranger (without special rules/AP/OS 5) would be maybe more picked if counting in base and cheaper. Now they're just competing with blade dancers. Alternatively, we could merge both entry in the forest Guard one, give it option to take Spear/heavy weapon/sylvan blades. Then a single un…

  • This is my idea of what our magic items section should look. * Weapon Enchantments Mutilating Grace (70 pts) Enchantment: Sylvan Blades Attacks made with this weapon gain Lethal Strike and Battle Focus and become Magical Attacks. The bearer may reroll to wound rolls (even successful ones) and can never wound on better than 4+. Moreover, when the bearer inflicts an unsaved wound to an enemy model in close combat, the model part of your choice permanently has its attack value reduced by one. Hunte…

  • About the trees/elves lack of synergy. Said the simplest way, the problem is that if you take full trees, the opponent's makes good use of cannons and High strength/ap missiles, but small ranged weapons and light magic missiles are basically wasted. The opposite is true if you take an all elves list ! Light shooting and magic are very effective, but cannons are very inneficient. However if you take half trees, half elves, then suddenly the opponent has a very good target for all his wapons ! And…

That's some interesting ideas. To be honest I don't really like the magic item sections. I think it's pretty uninteresting. The changes to the character sections are cool because it enforces having a characters of every style you listed. However it makes it a bit crowded and harder to build a personalised character, so maybe some middleground would be better. The first blood rule is not bad though, but is it intended that he has only three attacks ? It seems really little for a duelist. And res …

  • Quote from Chronocide: “the-ninth-age.com/community/in…30489adf27f96083b4bfe743e ” Looks like an old Doom sleeve

  • I never understood how Touch the Heart is good. The augment is basically just Druidism attribute, and the hex is hardly impressive. I mean, if I have to play against it I can't imagine dissipating it over another spell, outside very specific situations.

  • These are two interesting models. Both seems cool to play. I would really like to play the cosmology warlock. If we extends this to sylvan elves who could have pf and blade dancer chat as different entry rather than kindreds, as in v8, I don't know about it. Sure it's somehow cleaner and easier to include stat changes, but it also seems a waste of space. The warlock seems to be just a standard wizard master trading some magic items points for the familiar. I really don't know about what would be…

Rank up nicely and look cool and neat. ” Pics. ” I don't have space in my gallery and I only have pics of them in my Twitter but here is my eagle king prince(ss). the-ninth-age.com/community/ga…30489adf27f96083b4bfe743e ” Looks nice!

  • Quote from Giladis: “Quote from Serwyn: “there will be some answers "This is not up to discussion because it is related to DE and the DE book is finished" :p ” I can assure you that will happen. The reason will be because what was done in the DE book was done within the set design boundaries. So it wouldn't matter whether it was DE, SE or HE that first got the LAB treatment the result would have been the same. ” From what I understood in the first post, the guidelines will be shown to the commun…

  • 10 to 1 that when HBE or SE LAB will be in phase One and the community will give feedback, there will be some answers "This is not up to discussion because it is related to DE and the DE book is finished" :p

  • The pf was a bonus, I needed a general, and someone to carry hail shot to kill a warmachine early. Pf gives him extra usefullness and some dlexibility in deployement.

  • I tried to use him as a general (rather than bsb) in a very defensive list with hail shot and criwn of autocracy. It was pretty decent, but the concept of a defensive list (some shooting, lots of infantry including spearmen and some flanking) doesn't work with SE. You basically have no way of getting points (and objective) if the opponent don't try to go on you.

  • @Giladis Could you please share some thoughts about the current state of the complexity budget? In particular, do you think it is now fairly distributed among non-LAB army books, and is the target complexity budget for LAB higher or similar to the current mean complexity budget?

  • Quote from Eldan: “Quote from Ghiznuk: “Quote from Chronocide: “Quote from Giladis: “Quote from Serwyn: “Is it an objective that the number of entries and options are similar in all books ? ” The objective is that the complexity budget of each book to be at the same level. How each team spends their complexity budget is up to them. Few complex entries with lots of rules, many simple rules with only Rulebook rules, or a somewhere in between. ” Complexity Budget. That is a neat idea. I kinda want …

  • Quote from Aglion: “@Alexwellace Hmmm, isn't a lone character or single infantry model by foot light troop ? If i'm not mistaken they are, so you can shoot after marching. ” No they're not. They only gain light troop if they join a unit with light troop.

  • Quote from CariadocThorne: “I'd certainly be very disappointed if we ended up with anything as simple as a generic earth or water elemental, but I think there is room for more nuanced elemental spirits. Nymphs, as you mentioned, or the storm-roc, something which is distinctly a Forest Spirit first and foremost, but of an elemental type rather than a tree type. In Western occult traditions the elements have specific associations. For example, fire is associated with not only destruction, but tran…
