  • KoE LAB guidelines!

Personal oppinion incoming: I am almost 100% sure the incoming old world will have Hippo Knights. Why? Because it is done by a company that needs to sell models and Total war hype is real, they want to monetize on it. We are developing a game that does not have a need to power creep (to sell models) and reset itself every couple of years. This does not mean you can't use various hippo models on the market to represent a unit that will be in the new KoE LAB. T9A is model agnostic, it is our rule …

Quote from Klexe: “Peasants are only used by Spanish people. The rest of the world don't. ” Since half of Polish masters KoE lists have them, they must have been caught by the Spanish ... Yes the percental pick rate of Core points is low. Even new Peasants will probably be taken in like max 15% of Core points. But is that bad or intentional? How much Core points should the most trash Infantry unit in the most Cavalry army in the game be taken for you to say that internal balance is good? I am le…

Quote from McBaine: “but as they are now, they're worthless. ” You need to understand that this is your subjective opinion. Looking at ETC and Polish Masters, cca 1/3 of KoE lists have a Peasant Levy unit. What would your opinion be on how many KoE lists should have Peasant Levies? 25%, 50%, 100% (every KoE list should have one Peasant levy)? This answer again would be your subjective opinion. Even we as LAB task team didn't answer it ourselves but it is safe to say we agree it isn't 100%. Yet w…

  • Same as before: Lazy Dragon list I played against 3 Sylvan Elves which were destined to draw, or at least impossible to win big. Shook hands with the Daemon player for 10-10 before we started to play. And German KoE tabled me with ease because he is a better player, and I had two games with WDG this year prio to ETC. So kinda classic team tournament where individual results tell you less than half the picture.

  • Quote from Sergrum: “Keep in mind that 2 players scored <20 points (if you remove them WDG avg goes back above 10). From what ive heard they arent really competitive players and rather fillers for teams that needed people. Generally this ETC had many more "non etc" players due to short supply of players to fill teams. 1 thing also, WDG had 5 mirrors. So 66 total games , 10 of which were mirrors which limits potential points to 10. I wouldnt' get overly doomsday about WDG just yet. ” It is like t…

  • NEW Units for Asklanders

    Krokz - - Asklanders

    Post

In T9A world (which tries to mimic real world) Mammoths are not common in mountain forests where Asklanders are from. They are very common animal of the steppes where Makhar live. However Behemoth is designed to represent just about any monster your Fantasy mind comes up with and so not forcing you in any particular one.

  • Quote from Grayfox: “warriors can fight all over the table due to their discipline independence. This is what I find the most fun. When I deploy more defensive armies like EoS, OnG, you must stay in a bubble, tight, and if one flank collapse, whole army can fold fast. warriors dont have that problem. And that gives me - and hopefully also opponent - fun games every time. ” Pretty similar experience here. Whenever I play something else I feel constrained and miss WDG table freedom. This is what i…

Quote from Folomo: “If the Lady considers how the knights behave and treat the peasants as important, the knights WILL follow this mandate and treat peasants in much better way. ” IMO we have arguments that nobles act kind and good to peasants even without chivalry. When battle is over these peasants need to be alive and take care of nobles estate, they are essentially your tax payers and you don't want to see them die in droves. Sometimes it is even better for them to run away after they have s…

Quote from Folomo: “Knights defending the weak was a pretty iconic part of the medieval romanticization. ” I believe that was indeed a romanticization by our part (that happens to most of history anyway). In reality nobles scoffed at lowborns. There is a point that in a fantasy setting this romanticization needs to be exaggerated and chivalry actually be real and not just something to make a mock off. IMO we need to allow for both representations to cater to both players that want army historica…

Quote from jimmygrill: “I read @Krokz „suck“ statement as meaning „they have very low stats“, not as „the unit will be useless“. I would be very surprised otherwise, because that wouldn‘t make sense coming from one of the designers... ” Well, yes. VS Slaves suck, Common Goblins suck, SA Skinks suck, OK Scraplings suck etc. If you go ask their players they will mostly confirm it, like KoE player will confirm Core Peasants suck. KoE Core Peasants suck in a way that when they are dying other parts …

Quote from Zwei: “They never had a role to fulfill, they never had any spot. ” You missed my point: their role is to suck. This is how Knights maintain their superiority. It is a contrast made in the book as even in historical texts one Infantry levy was worth 1 cavalry knight soldier, with them sucking we represent how good the Knight on Horse is. Quote from Zwei: “Every other army managed to do something valuable with their insignificant units. Just we cant? ” I think we will, we are working o…

Well, Core Peasants by guidelines will suck. There are plenty of Core sucky units in other army books that are never taken, but are in the army books to satisfy background and convey a story. In the case of Core Peasants it is feudalism flavor. But we are talking about Core peasants, there are also Peasant Crusaders under Special which do not suck, so models are not necessarily invalidated. BTW anyone who knows any history can tell you how Peasant Crusade failed at Constantinople, it was hilario…

  • It is not intended that all summoning choices are competitive or can be put to good use. You have access to all for simplicity's sake, do what you can with it.

Quote from LordNelson: “Is it intended or a side-effect of the rules as written that you cannot drop a Hope Harvester into a unit (that you summon simultaneously)? Or can you make two summons happen simultaneously? I guess you can join the harvester to another daemon unit in the next turn, but that's costing a lot of time + is a move that gives your shooting a penalty. Does this make the War Platform rule that it has more or less useless? I'd be curious to hear more thoughts on this. ” Rules was…

Possessed were designed as a more glass cannon unit. They can take Chitinous Scales which brings them to 4+ armor save. Shield option would be priced to get them from 4+ to 3+ armor and Parry (because prices are always done on best combination) and so Shield option would be 2 points per model, meaning you'd get less models for same price, meaning every model you would loose from shooting would perceptually cripple you more. Short story: everything is priced, Shield would not give your more chanc…

  • Lust Dragon for sure.

  • If we price Dragon down 100 points everyone will take it. Will then the concept work? Rhetorical question of what drives model usage.
