  • KoE LAB guidelines!

DanT - - Kingdom of Equitaine (KoE)

    Post

@Zwei This is a bit of a nuanced issue, and there are internal discussions about it. We do try to satisfy the community, but there are also things that can't/won't be changed on a dime. I would just like to echo this bit of WW's post: Quote from WhammeWhamme: “It's fairly easy to think of what you dislike, but it's a lot more actionable to focus on what you do like. Is there anything throughout the entire history of the project you think was done well and the KoE TT should copy? Anything in Tale…

  • Quote from Stygian: “Unorthodox to my eyes but I like it Dan! Especially the bus. Why no Thoughts on eagle units? They would fit very well here in multiple roles. ” I agree The issue is simply points/what to take out if taking them. I do think there is definitely a flying circus SE list if one wants to push in this direction: 2x6 kestrels, 2x5 eagles, dragon, eagle king(s) My worry though is that the list ends up with so many points spent on flying/light troops that it can't deal enough damage t…

Thanks for all the answers folks (and anyone else who wants to write an answer, please do)

  • (not commenting in staff role) Quote from Smythen: “...a support system that is easier to play (ie: less counters) ” Note: I think easier to play and fewer counters aren't necessarily the same thing (there is some overlap, but not total overlap). I think one good question for people to think about might be "are people willing to give up eliteness elsewhere for a more elite support system (bigger effects, fewer counters, etc)?" Quote from Litoperez: “...and therefore maybe it doesnt work as inten…

  • Quote from youngseward: “How did the BSB contribute? I have an elven horse BSB desperate for relevance in my lists... ” He put two wounds on a razortusk chariot, which helped contribute (plus his banner) to the combat score that broke the chariot and some other chariots that had joined in the same fight, and his +1 combat res was pivotal in me getting the chance to get back in the game. He also blocked a unit as part of my play for the objective, but the failed dis 7 test rendered this ultimatel…

  • @Lord Drakon Thanks for your thoughtful response to my follow up questions, much appreciated, kudos. Quote from WhammeWhamme: “ I would argue that the project's current target for the fluff is the same as Tolkien's - by middle-aged university professors, for middle-aged university professors. Decisions are made in accordance with this; accuracy in world-building ” Hahaha, this made me giggle

  • Quote from Lord Drakon: “As I believe kids are the most intuitive human beings. When you strike a chord with them, you know it's epic.As adults we just make our dreams and desires as a kid come true. Fantasy will never be so imaginative, as when you were a kid. ” Ok, but I feel like this just begs more questions I am afraid, as it is quite a general answer. Why is this the right metric specifically for t9a? E.g. T9a is largely viewed as not an entry level wargame. I suspect most people come acro…

  • Quote from Lord Drakon: “ A kid of 10 years old should directly understand what the unit does. ” I am interested as to your reasoning for why you think a kid of 10 years old should directly understand what the unit does? Note: I don't necessarily disagree with you... but regardless of what I think, I don't think this view is clearly the majority view, which is why I would like to hear your reasoning

Anyone else want to answer this? Quote from DanT: “ Which are the most important and least important things for the overlord to be good at fighting? I.e. if you could choose what things he was good against and what things he was bad against (purely in terms of his damage output, not what his defence is good against), what would people choose? (primarily asking about the infantry overlord) ”

  • So exciting to see this sell out quickly! Very kool

  • Quote from LordCeridan: “I'm fairly certain @DanT had this one? ” @lawgnome Dan ventures into the lands of smoke and fire I think it makes an amazing kadim titan

  • Quote from Clangeddin Silverbeard: “Warriors did well in their combats, but how did the list as a whole perform? Do you think it is well-rounded? ” I believe @Tanka scored something like 96/100 and walked over everyone

Hmmm... maybe I should have said I am most interested in the infantry overlord. Riding a giant bull is quite a different job description

Thanks for those who have answered I get the feeling not many people posting here have tried the configuration I was asking about... The reason I asked is because BF/hatred/str6 ap3 D3 wounds and possible flaming re-rolls outperforms most other infantry characters in the game against a fair few targets, certainly for infantry characters that are designed to be all-comers. So, let me ask a different question: Which are the most important and least important things for him to be good at fighting? …

@Traumdieb ( and @Firthunands91 ) Just to clarify... we have all the theory and maths I specifically want to hear people's on-table experiences, and feedback from those experiences. (I'd rather not say more for fear of influencing the answers). Things like: what did he bully, what bullied him, what did his unit fight (and did they lose or win), did one's opinion change from using him, etc etc. @LordCeridan Interesting, thanks. Can you elaborate a little please? E.g. things like: are opponents sc…

Quote from arwaker: “When considering minimized, the difference is also not as big. But however the exact amount, I'm still curious why the Overlord is not attractive, despite his combat power (even if not reaching DH king) and the undeniable (even if small) advantage in DIS tests. ” Infantry characters come with a strategic opportunity cost, which is a reduced number of pieces on the board. This drawback means they need to sufficiently influence a sufficient number of fights to be strategically…

@Crazydwarf When you used this build: What characters did you lose him to? What things did him/his unit fight?

Question for everyone: The best competitive overlord build is mask+gauntlets+willows ward+talisman of shielding. Can I ask who has used this build in games and what their experiences were?
