  • Quote from The Changing Constant: “Quote from Nerocrossius: “I also find it interesting that there is a lack of Prelates on altar. It seemed that about a year or two ago they were quite popular and in the last update they got a significant price decrease. From what I can tell the Prelate cowboy on horse seems to have become the dominant locket carrier and is preferred over altar builds. ” I am not sure the alter in any form has ever been a popular option in 2.0. However, we have seen a slightly …

    Post

Quote from The Changing Constant: “@Nerocrossius, as written exemplar flame does not work when you are charged with spear men. ” The point is that spearmen already have a strong bonus when charged, Exemplar’s flame give them more attacking power when they’re charging. I apologize that I was not more clear. It was designed to basically be a reverse spear bonus.

  • Lots of knight buses with Prelate and Knight Commander it seems. From what I've seen it's not really about the damage potential of the knights as it is about the mobility and durability of the unit as a transport unit. Combined with supporting counter charges and strong characters it makes for a decent setup. Something that I find intriguing is that the Knight lance to cavalry pick ratio is more even than in past years. The big cost decrease to lance in the last update seems to have balanced usa…

  • Exemplars Flame

Nerocrossius - - Empire of Sonnstahl (EoS)

    Post

Exemplar's flame is mostly used to allow spearmen to have extra fighting power whether they're charging or being charged. I believe this was the primary design intent behind the item. As such, I would also note that spearmen get a lot of value out of Alchemy support. Because of the extra point of Armor Word of Iron actually means something on them as they can get up to four armor. Also, reroll to wound is a very meaningful buff on them as they have an increased number attacks compared to other c…

  • Quote from IndianaBradley: “The guys on the podcast said they cant make Empire work so I took theyre word for it and decided to go tree hugger. I also think the locals hate all things Elves which is of course the very best reason to get them! ” It's perfectly fine that you play any army that you want! I hope you enjoy the pointed ear folk! As for making Empire "work", it's true that Empire has a history of being a lower tier army (which doesn't mean too much in T9A as all the armies are so close…

  • Quote from SadlerCPII: “Nero! I noticed that you removed the horse form your Artificer! Was the horse the sacrifice needed to meet the character cap or do you just not need the chaff price anymore? ” It’s a character cap issue from adding an engine to the adept. I could trade potion of swiftness for the artificer horse, but currently I value the agility more. I do miss the horse though. I still use the artificer as chaff, movement order gets him out 12” which is sometimes enough.

  • Quote from Adaephon_Delat: “Hey @Nerocrossius I am curious. Have you evolved your dragon list? Asking for a friend ” It's evolved many times, but I can't quite find the configuration I like best. The banner of the relentless company change hurt the list in a lot of subtle ways, but I think the list's skeleton is still strong. Here is my current version: (Hidden Content) Most noticeable change here is the absence of the Pegasus, which takes a lot of the fun out of the list, but the heavy magic in…

  • Welcome to the Empire and welcome to T9A! Happy to have you! Glad to hear that Paired Weapons Podcast have gotten you into T9A! Big shout out to @Mattyp and @AxelVicious for doing such a fantastic podcast! Feel free to ask any questions you want! Otherwise, please enjoy! I assume that your friends play 4500pt lists, so I'd recommend using one of the many army builder apps that support T9A and start tinkering with lists that align with your collection and just start playing some games. From there…

  • Quote from greentide: “Thus I see no serious issue with slingshoting characters and the dominance of the knight-bus that can´t be solved by small point tweaks. Unless @Nerocrossius has some serious data in his mind/collection indicating otherwise ” I'm on business travel right now so I don't have my recent data collections from tournaments in front of me right now, but I can share my impressions based on what I've seen and submitted to tournament analysis. I believe EoS is performing decently ri…

  • I really enjoy reiters with brace of pistols, units both large and small. Sneaking behind enemy enemy and causing mayhem or just chaffing things adds an element to my EoS lists that I always enjoy. The surprise charge to a flank for the fire on impact (especially with lightning reflexes or hatred bubble) is a lot of fun too! An honorable mention for me is the imperial dragon. I've played dragons in other factions, but I think EoS has my favorite. Great magic support and light of Sonnstahl alongs…

  • Quote from The Changing Constant: “@Nerocrossius was using one to deliver a locket. Which sounds pretty solid and imagine would clutch to make a mage super competitive. Alternatively, 155 point flying chaff with a spell doesn’t seem bad either. ” I run a Divination master on pegasus with Essence of Mithril and Winter cloak and Locket. It works well to mismatch join with reiters to provide some leadership support to them and of course a fast locket threat is nice. I think Pyro and Cosmo are also …

  • Quote from ferny: “Quote from Eldan: “Quote from setrius: “I don't know too much about the background of EoS. I would like to know if EoS will have a pantheon of gods apart from Sunna. In the case that EoS have it, what is the name of the god of the dead? That is all ” That's already confirmed. Völund, god of smiths, Ullor god of winter. Quite possibly more. ” Do you know of any others besides volund, ullor and sunna? ” There is also Karadon which my understanding is the god of the hunt. I do no…

  • Quote from RomanRagnorak: “I combed through some of the pages in this thread and also the miniatures section, but didn't see any models for knights with great weapons. Does everyone just kitbash to make them since it seems that all manufacturers make knights with either lances or a single hand weapon w/ shield? ” It’s usually kitbashing. I think Norba miniatures will be releasing some knight models soon with great weapons as part of one of their recent kickstarters. I still await easy access to …

Quote from kompatybilijny: “When you mount your character, he loses his own defensive profile and use the multipart defensive profile instead. Griffon uses all defensive stats of it's character, except Resilence (and HP, but that's unimportant for locket purposes.). So by locketing someone, you give them Resilence 5, not 4. Check page 25 of core rulebook. ” Oh, whoops, you’re right, in that example I used it should be 4 not 5. That’s what I get when writing something right before bed Good catch,…

  • It's been awhile since I've done anything here. I'll try to post some of my recent mad experiments soon; I'm still playing my dragon list and I continue to think it's solid and fun. Since the Relentless banner change I've just put my BSB in a bunker of some sort (depends on the list) behind 40 halberdiers and it's worked well. I'll revisit the list with some fresh thoughts sometime. In other news, I've been looking at EoS tournament lists and I've noticed a subtle trend of Prelates on horse with…

  • This is a similar issue to what OK struggles with in their Scrapling BSB champion--the opponent just kills the champion and breaks the unit. I got to the point where I would run the scrapling champion in a unit behind my big scrapling block-it worked fine, but it was not really optimal. As for the design itself, I get the impression that the Project's game designers are trying to move away from complexity creep within individual units and I think special champion upgrades will be rarer. Even tho…

  • Quote from Herminard: “I run 4. 5 if you count the horsemage with 2+ save as a cowboy. And a tank. Our team played the polish first team for 1st place in the last round of the last 8 man international tournament of Sergum. I wouldnt say its completely on the side of the metagame. ” Oh, I agree that 3+ cowboys can be viable enough, perhaps utilizing them to their max was outside of my skill threshold. I just don’t see heavy cowboy as the dominant future of EoS. I think some people will use a bunc…

  • I have seen very few lists with 3+ cowboys. Abrasus runs two cowboys (one silvershot and one blessed steel inquisitor). The trend I have seen is toward a single blessed steel Inquisitor cowboy. There may have been some lists with Great Griffon and the Inquisitor. The reason the single inquisitor is becoming popular is generally for the 20" march with the movement order. Whenever I've played 3+ cowboys in EoS I have felt that I have put myself at a distinct disadvantage. For a long while I was pl…

  • For what it is worth I love the current EoS Slim book! Personally, I hope it is the last LAB as things probably will (and maybe even should) change quite a bit and I'm not ready to say goodbye yet. EoS slim just has so much variety. I have hundreds of EoS lists in my list archive and among them are dozens of different themes and playstyles. Even competitively I feel like EoS can bring many different kinds of lists to tournaments and see some success in skilled hands. There are some caveats and g…
