Quote from setrius: “Quote from Ghiznuk: “For the next books, fluff should arrive at the same time as the rules in the form of a picture-less sourcebook. For that you will have to wait the release of the LAB as I cannot divulge yet unpublished background. What I can say is that many things go into consideration, such as: "what is current life focus of the characteristic bearer" "how they reached their current stage" "what changed compared to their previous incarnation if it is part of some progression chain" Etc

Characteristics in T9A are abstract. Strength characteristic isn't exclusively how strong something is. Strength of the creature is included in the concept but it isn't the only thing. Strength characteristic in T9A represent the ability to inflict harm. That way you can have a 4 foot Dwarf with the same Strength characteristic value as a 10 foot Ogre even though the Ogre is biologically probably twice as strong as a Dwarf if not more. Edit: Academy training is nearly universal in the DE society

  • @Shukran you need to first open the image in a new tab (right click on the image to do so) and then copy the location into the image link. I edited your first image so you can see when you open the BBCode when editing the rest edit: I just did the rest so people can see.

  • Quote from Wesser: “but ethnically and culturally the Ottomans were most definitely Asian. ” Debatable. Original beys certainly were but by the time of the empire, the imperial family as well as the majority of the state apparatus including elite military units were predominantly European in origin. Even the Sultans by the time 17th century rolled in had more European than Asian heritage due to the succession of mothers of European origin. For example Ahmed I had 5 consecutive female ancestors i…

  • @kisanis now you don't have an excuse not to come to the management "meeting" in Pesaro

  • Quote from Lord Drakon: “Is there not a background related case to be made for KoE becoming an exception for another page of either virtues or items? ” Not in particular in comparison to other factions in the game. Quote from Lord Drakon: “Similar as why Dwarfs have 3 pages of very dwarvish (and thus spicy) items. ” Only if KoE loose access to most of the BRB items like DH

  • @Lord Drakon generally armies that get upgrades outside Special items get less Special Items in LABs. Please consult the WDG book for the example.

@rolan I don't know where you heard it or from whom but the complexity budget is very much a thing and one of the core principles of our design. I'll respond to the rest when on a PC.

  • Quote from Marcos24: “Quote from Menyiscilla: “Marcos24 is right. Europa was in such a steady struggle of powers, that the armies were the most developed in the world. The canons, guns and armoury improved in exhausting speed. No Country was able to resist. ” Ottomans... more manpower and more cannons and very disciplined troops, and again more manpower lol ” Ottomans were European

  • Then again BH could also be a good fit for some of the more north easter groups like the Iroqouis.

  • T9A by its very nature is a high fantasy setting, but one that tries to conform to real-world laws as much as possible to ensure the least possible chance of the reader breaking their suspension of disbelief.

Quote from DanT: “(A) In the pre-LAB slim book, what were the "dready" rules that gave the faction the correct feel? ” From the 2.0 book for me that would be Executioner's Blade. It was an indirect rule that caused real world dread as many players kept their standard characters as far away from Dread Judges as possible. Quote from DanT: “(B) What are the really evocative rules in other slim books/LABs that perhaps are not the most crazily impactful rules mechanically/power speaking, but do a goo…

Quote from arwaker: “So we could trade Divination for Pyromancy or Thaumaturgy? ” The short answer is no. Oracles play a very big part in DE culture and society. I feel a portion of the disconnect between how paths are perceived by the BGT and some posters is a different starting point. For the BGT paths assigned come from the manifestations of the DE culture and society rather than from the mechanical compatibility of spells within the game. If you ignore the spell effects and concentrate on th…
