  • Hello Doomlords and Sirens, time once again for the annual internal balance survey! DL Survey What are you taking? What aren't you taking? And why? These are the questions we're asking, to highlight what unit options are considered 'dead weight' compared to the more taken options. Last years survey we tried to tackle the discrepancy in Manifestation costs across the book, with many entries having 1 or 2 manifestations that are rarely seen in comparison to others. This is a fantastic opportunity …

I'll be making a little compendium of lists I've used it created for play testing, and release it alongside of the full release, 1 for each Sin. So that people have some ideas of lists to try out off the bat without having to wrap their heads around, gasp, list building without the help of New Recruit!

  • 200pts for a march 20 4+ save 5 Str 5 attack large beast Is a bargain, isn't it? There are tonnes of units in the game that don't wanna be charged by that, be it bunker or chaff or charge dependant unit you can hold up. When I had my little forays into WotdG I took 2 and really enjoyed how they could dictate games in some match ups for as little as 400pts. For example against HbE they could get into the back and threaten bolters, while bolters couldn't efficiently remove chimera. Although I thin…

  • @Keller that is pretty darn on point. Greed has been a bit of problem child all throughout the design process, WotdG and DL wise, so I've been told. If we could have had Heavy Armoured Lemures with Halberds as wanna be chaos warriors, we would have. But Greed from a DL perspective has some fixed guidelines in how much offensive potential it can have. Warriors Greed went through a few iterations before it ended up as "eh, just give em everything and weapon master!" Because that's not MORE killy t…

  • DL are creatures from beyond the Veil, and they shape their bodies from the magic that sustains them with their willpower. If a Daemon dies, that will power goes blasting back across the veil, and with the will power gone the matter will dissolve back into into the veil as well. As with everything, there are probably exceptions. Such as in areas where magic is so great that daemons can walk the earth as mortals do, such as within the Inferno. But in general, when the will power holding the form …

I think you're on the right track for most of it! Greed is about taking what's yours, and holding onto it. Imagine trying to design units that want to grind in combat, but have weaknesses in both offence and wounding. How would you do that? How would we do that? We've had to get quite creative indeed! If you picture how Hoarders work on the battlefield, you've got a perfect example of How Greed will look. Greed has a particular hatred for those who can actually take things away from them. Those …

The finish line is so close. I see it there, just beyond my reach. Taunting me further than I wanted to go, a climax to passion and effort that blinds me from all else but the siren song of a completed task. And here we are, almost at the end of our journey into the 7 Hells. I think I should make some sort of innuendo about rarely getting this deep into things, but I find the wording Elusive. We took to this supplement almost as a Feigned Flight of fancy, but quickly found ourselves Mesmerised b…

  • The Most important Sylvan Character has got to be the Hunter King, Wild Hunter Prince with Sylvan Blades (titanic might), Destiny's Call and either Horn of the Hunt + Dragonfire Gem or Hailshot on a Great Elk. 635pts. The Elk Lord has been a staple of many Sylvan lists for quite a while. The next most common character setup would potentially be the Troupe Master A Dancer Chief BSB with Hunters Honour + x2 Aether Icons. 335pts. with an alternate build being A Dancer Chief with Sylvan Blades (Whir…

Also Cautls are a newer breed than the skinks and Gila and Caimens. The "apptitude" of a Cautl for magic could easily be explained by their brain being better at processing information. I'm sure I could learn all the rules for this game, and someone with a photographic memory would have an easier go of it Elves also have the society geared towards the education required to be good at magic. Vermin for example, with their short life spans and treacherous ways don't have time to become masters, bu…

It's a lot easier to be smaller than bigger. If it is smaller you can put in on a unit tray with the correct boundary rectangle and everything will be fine. But using bases that are larger, there isn't any way to really fix that.

In the design stage we had a fair amount of trouble differentiating Envy and Greed, as both are about taking things, but they have different end goals. Greed wants to take things, and hold on to them, so you'll never have them. Envy doesn't want something...until you have it. It sees your fancy gear and shining generals and glittering banners and wants to rip them down into the mud. So I guess we've swapped it around from your perspective, where Envy is the psychological Sin and Greed is a very …

That was really good Palmu. I do try not to be resentful of someone so hard working. I could do that if I tried. And I try not to be jealous of someone with the full title of GDT, maybe I will get there someday. I try not to be spiteful or bitter when I see you have over 5 THOUSAND more likes than ME! Gosh darn it, I can't keep it in, I've been bitten by the Green-Eyed Beast. I'm utterly ENVIOUS of your station, and I think it's time for you to step aside and let me claim the spot-light. The Sin…

Quote from Giladis: “@Palmu as per guidelines Wizard-Warrior hybrid is not allowed to have Wizard Master. ” *Laughs in Omen* I'd like to see something like a Wizard Master Exarch in a Cult auxillary book, but as is I think a wizard master Exarch would over shadow the Warlock by a margin. And would in all likelyhood end up costing Vampire Lord levels of cost. However, there perhaps should be a direct comparison between the MocT Prince and the proposed Wizard Master General Exarch. The prince come…

Maybe give each model a specific part of the model that is their "object of envy". Maybe they're all painted normally, but the shoulder plate is a luxurious other colour. Or they have a fancy weapon, or helm, or shield. But each model has a different "object of envy".

  • Is it low volume though? All of those other poison shooters with 2 shots, also have short range, I e 12". So they're lucky of they get to shoot 3 out of 6 turns. There is every reason that sentinels should be able to shoot 6 turns out of 6 turns against their ideal targets, with an effective 40 inche range. That's the difference. It's why they're an ideal wizard bunker as well, due to having no direct need to be closer than 30" away against their ideal targets.

  • I thought it was because of the decided fluff divide between ID and DH. ID have the best mass produced technology in the world. Basic soliders, in mass forged plate armour and fire pikes, more elite than what Dwarves can bring en masse. DH don't focus on mass produced, DH focus on artistry. DH rune crafted should have a higher ceiling than ID mass produced weaponry, but ID weaponry should have a higher floor. So a kitted out Overlord has access too all the tools of the citidel, but a kitted dwar…

  • Did this continue at all? I'd love to hear about my Scourge Squishing more Mortals. Specifically the Locket prelate vs the Scourge is a very interesting interaction. He steals the Scourges base stats, but doesn't steal the manifestations. So the prelate will be sitting at 5 str 7 attacks, and Ds4, while the Scourge is sitting at 3 Os5 Str 5 attacks + rage. The Prelate has hatred and divine attacks, but the scourge has parry and mirrored scales. It'd be a really interesting fight

Quote from Cultivator: “Quote from Alexwellace: “The current hereditary doesn't excite me in the same way. Sweeping attacks are cool and all, but is the fact it's only 9 attacks means it'll never ever be scary. While casting 2 hereditaries a turn from turn 1 to 4 would net you several units of 27 hit time bombs, which has a much larger spike potential. ” If my maths is right you'd get 180 sweeping attacks from two cast a turn by turn 5. ” But they take up more space, are more annoying for your o…
