  • While there is something called "suspension of disbelief" needed for fantasy, I agree that questioning chariots as unrealistic in an undead army is a stretch...

  • Quote from Lubart: “I'm painting a unit for myself right now. No problems with ranking, they have a lot of free space around the model. KBk-_aSuZEc.jpg ” Hm, indeed she looks nice (and reasonably clothed, solving my problem of undercoat selection -these I'd undercoat black). If You could snap a photo of a few of them at once?

  • I like this batch, models from two different generations painted in the same scheme - I do it sometimes too

  • Quote from Lubart: “Quote from Glonojad: “Hello @Lubart, do You have a picture of Your temple militiants assembled and ranked on the square bases? ” No, only render. For what purpose you need it? ” There's no secret in it - I find the Citadel girls a real pain in the butt to rank up (even if labelled below the bases it takes eons, and in tourneys time is short!) so if I am to switch to some other (gorgeous, I'd give You that!) models, I'd like to make sure I am not swapping SARS for black fever.…

I believe tge aim of the book is to make infantry feasible, but not really the most powerful build - then again, best Dread Elf builds are infantry builds.

Well, I don't really. I tried using them as an anvil, but Forlorn work generally much better in this role.

Well, I don't really mix them with other Brets, but they are a bit smaller than the 6th ed guys. As they are on thin bases and I do own mostly 5th ed infantry, this doesn't really bother me. One of them is a Champion in the Halberdiers unit: 20200404-M-A1.jpg

  • What do You mean? In the 5th edition the costs were fixed, the restrictions were minimal (for example, Bearmen were restricted for High Elves only). What I propose gives a chance for a much better balance.

  • I understand we are not talking about a "Mercenary book" at this time, however, but "mercenary units as allies". And these could be really added on a one by one basis even, with balancing done individually for each army. Say: Mercenary Ogres, cost: A: 150 starting, 50 additional B: 100 starting, 35 additional; C: 200 starting, 20 additional. Availability matrix OK cost B, core EOS : cost A, special DE : cost A, Menagerie KoE: cost C, Airborn Gallantry, 0-1. HBE: cost A, special, 0-1. etc - the a…

I have looked through the Miniature Library already, but was counting on some personal experience with practicality of models.

  • Allowing mercenaries (or any allies, for that matter) is a huge challenge for the game balance. Considering there are still unresolved issues with the main army books, I'd be cautious with the idea. Then again, there are several "open" level additions already, like Giants, Asklanders etc, so why not DOW? Provided availability list - and prices! - will be provided on case-by-case level for each army.

OK, so maybe I'll ask: Witch Elves that DO rank up easily, look nice, and are not P.I.T.A to paint (ie. limited amount of jewelry on the skin - I paint the skin very pale, so it is easy to spoil it when painting jewels)?

Quote from spicybarbecue: “probably been mentioned but where is everyone getting their repeater crossbowmen from? ” Have GW scrapped them already? Personally - I still have at least 20 unassembled 6th ed warriors and spare xbows from the 8th ed set, but kinda hunt the 4th ed ones to enhance my collection...

  • I must say that the atheistic Saurians do seem a huge turm from legacy amd I wonder how it is executed. Seeing as "ancient tech becomes myth becomes religion" trope is quite popular (say, 40k anyone?) i wonder how will this be done. Of course, unless the whole "ancient aliens" trope is also purged.
