I would like to point out that test games are never pointless, even for things that are likely to change because additional feedback can influence both the scope and direction of eventual changes. The ruoe of thumb is the more feedback we get faster we can update things and with greater certainty we are on the right path.

  • @bas_2312 T9A draws inspiration from history because it part of public domain and thus is legaly safe. Creating original fantasy elements runs the risk of stepping upon someone else's IP. We neither have the resources or time to go and double check the sheer breath of fantasy literature to ensure the Project is legaly safe and no one can accuse us of infringing on their IP or that our work is a derivative of their's. As for why the thematic overlap with sources of inspiration WHFB used as well. …

  • Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Quote from Giladis: “Guys, I think you are missing a crucial point of the T9A setting. Gods are a matter of proven fact in the setting. People following certain gods are worshipers based on knowledge rather than faith. ” And we put that into canon where? ” Best example, the SE AB. Where a goddess is also a queen that resides within the forest. An individual that holds court and you can interact with. There can be no doubut about her existence and thus those who perform …

  • Feels like they are intentionally feigning amnesia considering Border Princes were extensively covered during both 1sn and 2nd edition of WHFRP.

  • As far as I recall the Badlands were supposed to be a rough equivalent of the Balkans with Borderprinces being more like the southeastern frontiers of central European states.

  • My personal taste from an aesthetic point of view is something along the lines of 1950's Knights of the round table or Ivanhoe because I think that paegantry take style looks good on the table. At the same time I want them personality wise to feel real like they stepped straight out of 12th or 13th century.

Sauron just chilling with nazgul in Mordor forever would not be as evil. It is about the e…

  • Quote from VisconteDimezzato: “Quote from Lord Drakon: “Quote from Marcos24: “To be honest I miss the good vs evil divide. But the good doesn’t have to be perfect, there could be plenty of bad within it. That’s part of what makes a hero interesting. Plus more relatable and believable. And he’s still the “good” guy. In any case I think some of the factions still clearly are either good or evil, though some others are now more blurred for sure ” I agree. I also miss the good VS evil. It is the cen…

  • There is still good vs evil (as we see it today) in T9A. It just isn't attached to factions as a whole (mostly) but to individuals. What T9A has moved away from is l'art pour l'art take on evil. No one is evil just because they are evil. There are mostly reasons behind why they do what they do. Also just because an action has a reason it doesn't mean it cannot be classified as evil

  • Quote from Ghiznuk: “Well, yeah, our Lady is more powerful in that regard than Warhammer's, I'd say. ” I mean that isn't a really high bar to clear. The Lady in WHFB was an elf sorceress

I have explained that some time previously but I guess it is good to repeat it. Elves in T9A have affinity for magic but not special aptitude (no one does). All that means is that an elf is more likely to chose to study magic than members of other species.

  • Quote from 00TnT00: “@Giladis because people who play with the old legacy books have been playing basically with the same book for over 17 years. So any change, to the core of the book will be seen with contempt for some of the community. ” I understand the general reason what I am more looking into are specifics considering we did not introduce anything which has not conceptually been part of the general fantasy faction niche Kingdom of Equitaine and Bretonnia belong to for at least 25 years.

  • I am curious so if any of you who dislike the fey element can explain to me was the only reason the already existing fey element in the Slim book as well as in legacy didn't bother you was because it was described to look strictly like a knight? Furthermore, how are flying deer any more outlandish than flying horses? I am asking this because I want to understand where the objections are coming from because from my perspective as one of the background writers we did not introduce anything that co…

  • Quote from Edhelnaur: “And 46 characters are way too much ” I agree. When we get to work on the HE LAB it is not a given all characters would have access to honours. It will depend on the overall design direction of the character section. For example, the future character section might work with only 4 characters of which 2 could be fixed and 2 could be modifiable via a subdued honour system.

  • As per the published background, you should not be expecting such combat potential from the future MoCT considering their identity is finding a balance between spellcasting, combat and the three natures of the elves. Furthermore, though it is not a given, considering that particular design route was chosen for DE (in part to be different from SE and HE) you should not expect the Honours system to go away. What is far more likely is an overhaul of the system to be less complex and potentially les…

  • Quote from Bretboy84: “I dont mind if they release the game in 2023. ” New 40K edition is most likely scheduled for 2023 and new AoS for 2024. So ToW either has a slot next year or in 2025. Considering 2025 is too far away and GW at all cost wants to avoid the repeat of cannibalisation of their main systems as happened with the introduction of LOTR in early 2000's next year is the only open slot for ToW to be released.
