  • To me it makes sense that Questing Knights could have their quest completed easily if they choose, while still receiving their “reward” - it’s the letter of the law vs the spirit of the law. Or to put it another way: what kind of self do you want to live with, the rewards being equal? Many (if not most) religious orders struggle with this, and for most, if you choose the easy way out, the reward doesn’t change ‘cause “it was about the journey all along”. As Sanderson said: “Journey before Destin…

  • With regards to the definition of forbearance, there is one more formal definition that I think might help: “The action of refraining from exercising a legal right, especially enforcing the payment of a debt.“ The thing about forbearance that’s different from patience or indulgence, or even tolerance, is that as an English word, it implies two things: 1. That you have a right or a privilege to do the thing you are choosing not to do (and that most people would not make the same choice). 2. That …

  • I REALLY like this spoiled unit! 1. Witchcraft suits the fae beautifully (from both a classical standpoint as well as from a T9A background perspective - at least as much as we have received thus far, especially when considering how T9A broke down the various paths) + it’s my favourite path so that’s fantastic! 2. I actually find this unit to be something KoE needs - not in the sense that “we should give them every type of entry they don’t have”, but rather in the “KoE requires something else ta…

  • Quote from Ivar K: “I would say that "Fey conclave" could be flying light troops wizard conclave. It would make lots of modellin options from fairies to angles and those very dynamic flying-on-top-of-a-magical-effect sorceresses. ” This is an highly lovely idea! It takes one of our strengths and adds a beautiful twist to it that makes it unique, but not game-breaking. (However, care would need to be taken to ensure balance and prevent abuse; but in principle this is fantastic!)

  • I love the new 2 column layout. It is soooo much better than the massive one-column format we had before. THANK YOU!!

  • I dislike counter-charge for KoE. However, things like additional dice for charging, or rerolling 1s and 2s on a charge, counting as having charged for more than one round of combat, etc I’m happy with though. I dislike things that limit an opponent’s tactical options in favour of making my play simpler or easier.

  • Nerding with Nero

Dalinar - - Empire of Sonnstahl (EoS)

    Post

Those militia with lightning reflexes are good for their price (I’m the poor sap who played DH against Nero). EoS was my first army I collected, and I always loved them in core (I never leave home without them) but for some reason it never occurred to me to play them that way. They’re somewhat situational, but versatile enough to make them worthwhile. I’d say I love them in this list.

  • Quote from tulmir: “I wonder what do you guys think about Pegasus knights? Do you think that they need a rework? Different role? Different stats? ” They’re my favourite unit! I’m not a fan of the role the Oath of Fealty pushes them towards. I’d rather have them reworked (at least slightly). I’d like them to work with other aspects of the army (really any other aspect) than the Oath of Fealty sector.

  • Quote from Hillbilly Carl: “I'd like to see grail knights take their rightful place as the best cavalry in the game. If that means I can only take 6 of them in my army I'm ok with that. Why do other (evil) knights get to be vastly more powerful? In my mind, grail knights are no longer mere mortals and I'd like to see their stats reflect that. What if we could take grail knights or questing knights as unit champions for the other knight units? I can especially see the knights aspirant gathering u…

  • I suppose it would depend on the definition of “faster”. You could very well be correct. I define “faster” as being considered unit by unit, so one unit with a higher advance and an equal march would seem reasonable to me - that way each unit has some “thing” they are “faster” in - unless the march must equal twice the value of the advance.

  • Quote from Folomo: “One thing that worries me of the guideline is that it specifies that the KoE cavalry is faster than the EoS cavalry, so at minimum 8/16. This will force all cavalry to pay premium points for their speed and block ideas for cavalry units, such as a slower cavalry specialised in grinding for example. ” I would say not necessarily, it could be 9/14 (for instance, really any odd combination should work) instead; easier to charge, which you would want in a unit designed as a grind…

  • @Xingu79 I love those ideas; they’re full of flavour! Something I’d like to see is a unit of knights that are dedicated to the fey and receive some favour when fighting along side them (ie when this unit of knights is in the same list, or perhaps the same combat, as the fey, then they gain this bonus).

  • I am quite satisfied with these guidelines; they are detailed enough to provide me with an understanding of what I may possibly be able to expect (in terms of the flavour of the army) while at the same time are broad enough to allow for loads of design room for our LAB team. I’m excited! Things I particularly liked: I absolutely love access of any sort to witchcraft- I cannot state how happy that just made me! In addition, the focus on flying circus is fantastic, as the pegasus knights really ma…

  • I just wanted to say how great I thought this bit of background was. It’s the best thing to come out of the background team to date in my opinion. I knew it was gonna be good when I read the introduction and it was a scholar talking about the poem - the dry humour, almost unintentional, just made this so enjoyable. I’ve never read any of the stories this may have been based on in reality (though I know of them) but I still really enjoyed this. It’s a way easy read. If it weren't in poem form and…

  • I love the sword - It's kind of a bronze that goes well with the rest of the colours you've chosen - especially the mount's.
