  • Quote from Bogi: “I'm not misunderstanding, I'm saying that it should not cost like this. Balance will only be achieved once cross comparisons are perfect. I'm not sure why this is misunderstood? It's a simple logical fact. Suppose that what I said is not ture, then you can assume that perfect balance can be achieved with funny cross comparisons, or by contraposition, that perfect army cross comparisons will lead to a disbalance in the game. How can exact same prices cause a disbalance in the ga…

  • The dictator general route makes us more vulnerable to panic checks, so seems like a cool tradeoff. I've also been tabled with an unstable army, for underestimating the danger I was in. It seems like a cool alternate playstyle for our army book, and for the most part not many people are taking it. Maybe that'll change in later updates but it's in a pretty cool place now.

  • Quote from Gingersmali: “Quote from heliconid: “super useful to know, exactly what I think ppl have been talking about. Maybe it'd be useful to have the 3 characters in distinct niches. Like a general, Spellcaster and BSB/cowboy. ” I think this is a bad idea, I'd just let it be the 3 most "set" builds and let that be different for each book, as determine by data or the community. Of course i wouldn't include the same character with one item different, they some how both made top 3. ” Quote from …

  • Quote from Gingersmali: “For OnG i'm pretty sure picking three of the below would be a good option. These builds seem to be pretty "set", of course some people run mild variation on these. 635 - Goblin King, Forest Goblin, Gargantula, Paired Weapons (Shield Breaker), Light Armour, Obsidian Rock 550 - Orc Warlord, Iron Orc, War Boar, Shield (Dusk Forged), Plate Armour, Hand Weapon (Omen of the Apocalypse), Dragonfire Gem 475 - Orc Warlord, Feral Orc, Shield, Light Armour (Essence of Mithril), Han…

  • Lets start a dev team for the unofficial book. People who are happy to contact their own army subforums and report back. Once the unofficial book starts going through drafts we can bang it on the homebrew section and contact the official teams. Happy to organise a thread to discuss this further. If you want in like this post and I'll add you to a message thread.

Quote from arwaker: “When you ask for my personal opinion...Personally, I would prefer a higher S for the Mauss Cannon (maybe +1). This should be sufficient to make it more distinct from the Jezzail in why types of targets are preferred, and bring it more in line of eliteness with other war machines. TnT mode should still increase damage from D3 to D6. ” yh tbh, the obvious, and most ideal niche is a single high strength multiwound shot. Feels like it was closer to this in alpha 1 so maybe it's …

Quote from arwaker: “But multishot makes the Mauss even more similar to a bunch of Jezzails. I would prefer them being a bit more distinct, not more similar. ” Granted, it's definitely similar due to having more shots, but if it kept area attack, it's higher strength and multiwound d3 the ideal target is different. But maybe this difference isn't enough, idk. How would you make them more distinct? What niche would you want to provide the Mauss with via said changes?

Quote from CasimirtheSwede: “The thing I don't get with the most recent change is that it seems to address problems that weren't really there. From my understanding the complaint some of the community have is that the potential max damage of d6 wounds is too high. The previous cannon was not too powerful for its points. So the latest change confuses me, because it nerfs the cannon in all departments except the d6 wounds, now it's simply way over priced for what it does. I would argue that the d6…

  • Quote from rolan: “Quote from Shino: “isn't Crown of Hubris just what you are describing? at expense of short lived rat life it adds extra dice? ” Yes, exactly. But is one item enough to express a unique way of solving the unique troubles VS wizards have to compensate their short lifespan?I would like to have some ability included in the casting of the priest, not in the usage of a single item. ” I agree with this sentiment entirely. Feel like the rakachit technokrat is a perfect character entry…

  • This seems to come up a lot, and I think a supplemental book containing great heroes from all factions would be really worthwhile and well-received. It also seems like every sub forum would know exactly what it wants from these special characters in terms of a cool narrative build so we are already starting the design process from a strong position. I'd like to see 9th age take the concept further though and have special armies. One or two fully designed lists that can't be changed and get speci…

Quote from trasius: “Unique should be usefull to be interesting ” I agree, but similarly, useful doesn't have to mean army-defining. Tunnels can give us an edge in deployment, or zoning potential if we blow them up. Those effects don't have to be game changing to stay in the LAB.

Tunnels are pretty good as they are. I need some more games with them to be effective with the placements though, but the potential is there ” Normal Ambush is better …
