LoTR games don’t have a max turn limit, though there are rules for when scenarios end. I think that’s better. Even then games don’t last 3 freakin hours and battle companies is the best version of it Honestly I think individual bases in rank and file games are my least favorite. In terms of tediousness, modeling potential, and rules. Games like Swordpoint and Hail Caesar help are a better approach, and with Hail Caesar you can still use individual bases if you want to. The advantage Oathmark has…

Quote from Gingersmali: “Quote from Hombre de Mundo: “We let people give feedback, so they do, loudly. GW says "our way or the high way" and people go along with it because unless they have a local group where they can homebrew or do whatever, they have no choice, really. ” I agree, but I do wonder if the GW approach would lead to less whiny forums ” It would for sure. Lol I love the current lexicon definition for conga lines

@Chronocide Conga lines are only narrow but deep units, not wide and shallow units. Think of a literal conga line dance, one person wide and dozens deep

I lump everyone who doesn’t make immersion a priority in the same group lol In all seriousness I don’t think this is ever going to get solved

Lol. Gosh man just say “no conga lines” and be done with it. Breaking down the game like this is even worse in killing immersion. Me: “My knights have crest the hill and are now charging your looting, piece of manure, spawn of hell orcs in hopes of finding their captives alive!” Poindexter Tournamentplayer: “You mean your 1.195 g/cm³ density resin figures on 25x50mm mdf bases can now draw line of sight to my own pewter orcs casted by citadel from 1992 that are 18.4625692946728389293039477474” aw…

Its not that it “feels bad”, getting outplayed in any way feels bad. I just think conga lines look stupid. You approach a game table and everything looks cool, then you see a conga line, the first reaction is wtf are they like that?? It doesn’t look right. You don’t expect to see that in a game simulating a battle, and it kinda kills the mood It’s one example of pushing this away from being a war-game to just a game where you can use little war figures, and even peanuts and rocks if you want
