Way back in the guidelines thread we discussed the weakness to shooting. Basically everyone agreed that we didn't really want "protection" from shooting such as hard target, high resiliance, etc... But we needed TOOLS to deal with enemy gunlines. One such tool is witchcraft with twisted effigy and attribute spell(DE move faster OR enemy move slower). Random move spell. In Slim book we had more tools: Yema provided very good movement bonuses. Harpies had move10/20 so could sit out of range and th…

  • What if Gits Launchers still launched Gits and those Gits sometimes survived? Sounds awsome. - Shouldn't all Troll types have a unique bonus? And come to think of it, are slim trolls really that tough? Naaa, I prefer One Troll to rule them all!! R5 incomming! .....looks like the team read the suggestion thread ;) - Would you be happy or unhappy to hear that exactly half of our magic items are borrowed or tweaked from slim (currently)? Asking for a friend. I'm not picky BRB items good enough for …

  • Lol, I'm just razzin ya. ....War pups vs bunny rabbits

  • Quote from AlexCat: “Just wanted to share with you guys. Had a game today in which my Digestive Vomit Hellhounds with Guiding Red Haze Harbinger destroyed half of DE army including a dragon and two manticores. War pups were unstoppable! ” Dread Elves??? ....low hanging fruit there... Come back when you've chewed through some HE or SE lists

  • List looks fun as most flying circus lists do. It's an ETC list so I don't put any weight behind complaints, calls for restrictions, saying it's unfun. Playing ETC means you will be getting skewed RPS matches. ....that's what team tournies are all about! Lol. I might have to take my DE army with drake riders out of storage....

  • Quote from Francesco Cacciatore: “Quote from Ddevil: “-Charged Tendrils should be a general manifestation - Miser loses synergy with it being sentinel specific and harvesters get closed off to builds just with a sentinel. ” The smartest thing I've read on here in a while. Please follow this suggestion. ” I think this has been suggested by many since release of the book. I vaguely remember the tags explaining that they wanted it to be upgrade so it costs points - some players use it, some don't. …

  • Well back in the suggestion thread there were lots of good ideas on how to represent randomness without it becoming an 'all or nothing' dice roll. A good suggestion for trolls was to give movement 4+D3 which provides randomness without unit being useless for a turn. And of course stuff like Frenzy, or other random stats/effects. T9A's design for regeneration(5+ fortitude where 6's regain a wound) is nice amount if random as well. Not sure how these suggestions would jive with background, put peo…

  • Quote from dan: “Quote from Peacemaker: “Quote from dan: “but given the long, global history of racial discrimination against minority groups I ” I just wanted to note that I don't think this type of talk should ever come up in T9A at all. I know some of you in different cultures feel this racial discrimination thing is global and everyone thinks it's infallible and a fact - but it isn't. In my culture, no on gives a hoot about this and we consider it literally as propaganda. I really can't see …

  • Quote from Ghiznuk: “@Alkasar was sharing with me the opinion that GW might go to a full « heroic scale » for their models and all bases on 25×25 mm, what do you all think is the likelihood of that ? For a start that would be a good way to make sure we can’t play with our old armies lol, would help NinthAgers retain fellow NinthAgers who don’t want to have to rebase…… ” I don't what what 'full heroic scale' is but They already have gone to 32mm scale without admitting to it. It's the whole reaso…

Quote from Squirrelloid: “The big problem with units deeper than they are wide is you can't wheel them at the end of their movement (the back models move too far). You have to wheel earlier, and potentially move forward, depending on just how deep the unit is. ” hmmm, ...I think I've cheated in the past. Opponent never caught it either and they probably doing same thing so.... Not like people did it all the time, probably 1 out of 5 games or something.

  • Quote from Squirrelloid: “Their pick rate is not 'good'. It's really bad. 14%, 10%, 18% pick rates for the last 3 years. (Even for their cost, significantly less than a 30% pick rate is pretty bad). Edit: Most of that pickrate is just one unit per army, too. ” can someone explain these pick rates? There are 11 units in special so these percentages don't see very bad to me. What's the context you guys are using?

Quote from Jarec: “I am no DE player, but they were really high on my "maybe-list". After the LAB hit I was no more interested in them at all. In my case it was the contrast. Every infantry (and even cavalry at that point) was pretty much the same thing, a somewhat fast glass cannon. Just melted my interest in them. ” I'm interested in your perspective since you are not a DE player. In comparison, what are you thoughts on the old slim book?

  • Quote from Kapten Kluns: “@Alexwellace for me personally. I would be up for trading scoring for a meaningful combat buff for them. ” I think they should keep scoring. We already have Sirens as mobile attack unit without scoring.

  • I thought there was a BRB rule that said "Cannot Stomp". I guess not. It can just be tied into their rule for the bonus against large.

Quote from Warshout: “I don't like the suggestion for S4 AP0; I think this should be reserved for units with 'brute strength' and I think dwarves are generally not brutes. ” that was a typo. Should be ap1. I fixed it. -------------- I'm also fine with the Citadel guard being the more elite with better stats. It's just the price points per model go up is all but it creates a nice dichotomy between the CG and IW. Could even add pistols to the IW for cheap with 1 less aim than CG to satisfy fluff. …

Personally, I'd like to see what it would look like with 1 combat unit and 1 ranged unit. Infernal Warriors are the combat unit. Citadel Guard are the ranged unit.. Theres a few ways to do this. Do we consider them them to be basically the same troops but just different options but Strength 4, Ap1? Or Strength 3, Ap0. Or are IW the cheap option with Strength 3, Ap0?. And CG slightly more elite with Strength 4, Ap1? Either of these routes can be solved with points. But consideration would need to…

  • Losing stomp is a decent option in order to push the specialty. There are 2? Other Large units that give stomp, as well as lots of gigantics. But what buff to give? More offense? ....maybe. What about some defensive bonus? They currently get +1 to hit and wound, what about a +1 aegis Or +1 Resilience? As well. That would allow them to not die so easily against their intended targets. +1 aegis is quite strong +1 resiliance is more situational vs strength of target. Great against ogre tribesmen, m…

I don't care much for the 'complexity calculations' because moving profiles from one book to another is the same complexity, lol. ...if anything it actually increases complexity because now I have to open another document to see it. If I print it out then the unit card from giant supplement gets merged with unit cards from BH book. So I basically add it back into the book anyway. Ahhh, math! The only nich situation where it reduces complexity is that it allows the option to not use the giants su…
