  • I was one that originally thought the game would be slotted into the 2025 Summer release window. But now I guess it could come out in the next 12 month leading up to AOS 4th edt. (which is next Summer). The clutch of that being no Giga-sized launch box. Or if there is, its going to be 80% old models. Their communications is all over the place, hard to know what to think. Another thing that could make this game DOA is pricing. People might have sticker shock if they've had their head in the sand …

  • Quote from Kodos der Henker: “Quote from DeBelial: “I'm not touching anything until gw will release actual rules. I'm suprised by amount on FB posts with people changing bases already ” because the hype is real and people want to show their support for something ” I do find it odd the amount of concentrated dedication to a single global corporation that people possess in the tabletop space. It would be like if EA, Activision, and Ubisoft all merged and 75% of Gamers all hailed that as a great vi…

  • I was just reading that the new Horus Heresy stayed at the old 6x4 board size, which is interesting & a bit surprising. That probably means the TOW will probably follow suit and not go to the smaller size like 40k and AOS did.

  • T9a is doomed , blabla why

I agree with Hal. 9th age's biggest advantage VS a commercial product is that there is no attachment to making a sales quota. So there is no pressure to push models that they need to have flying off shelves. Models agnosticism is a big win when the armies are as large as 9th age can be. One example at getting started quick is for a new player to buy painted lots of minis off of Ebay for cheap. Endless options.

  • I don't see TOW releasing in 2024. Assuming AOS 4th Edt releases in 2024. It would be directly cannibalizing sales from each other for fantasy miniatures. That is assuming they keep with 3 year cycles for the big games. Its going to be next year, or more likely 2025 IMHO. My guess to future releases based on 3 year cycles for main games. 6 year cycle for TOW & 30k. 2022 - 30k - 3rd? Edt. 2023 - 40k 10th Edt. 2024 - AOS 4th Edt, 2025 - TOW 1st Edt.

  • Quote from Nekhro: “Quote from Kodos der Henker: “And with HH being transferred to a different Studio and being a main line game now, TOW will replace this as the long term ForgeWorld game. ” There is no more GW studio and FW studio. There is a Core studio and a Specialist studio. ToW is in the Specialist sutdio, like HH. FW is more a complement to GW from now on (BB or Necromunda). ToW will be more like HH V2 than HH V1. ” Agreed. There is limited market for Expensive resin fantasy miniatures f…

  • So if TOW is going to be a specialist game, does that mean its going to get like 1-8 kits (lucky to be plastic) a year like the other specialist games currently get?

  • Quote from Flames: “Quote from Shukran: “Short sad stories - My local TO call this game warhammer ninth age - most players in my group still think this game is a warhammer clone - most players in my group believe this game should go back to warhammer clone Im one of few(maybe one other ) lurking and reading forum. So they dont care neither believe about balance patches, about metas, about helping community by sending tournies rosters and results. They know only 16armies , others are for fun. My …

  • Quote from Ludaman: “Quote from BondageGoatZombie: “Random anecdote on Warhammer nostalgia: One thing I most strongly associate with the "good old times" is the smell of the army books. Some of them (I believe it must have been the 7th edition) had a particular smell. Not like regular novels you buy in a book shop but somehow different, heavier. Whenever I happen to come across this type of smell I am instantly thrown back to the golden days of my now extinct gaming group. It is fascinating what…

  • Quote from Nesro: “there are graveyard bases like these from Titan Forge: titan-forge.com/52-graveyard-square-bases ” Those look awesome , i just bought a few sets of the 20mm with the filler base to test out.

  • Quote from Jarec: “Quote from Frogert_poj: “Big picture comparison. Allot of people in this thread are seemingly upset in the direction 9th age is going in, which is fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But to say that they will probably move over to TOW as 9th age has moved too far from where Warhammer used to be… Bit puzzling to me. What Warhammer edition are we comparing to? ... ” I'm comparing it to the slim book edition of the 9th Age. I found the bait and switch of slim to LAB real…

  • Big picture comparison. Do you believe TOW will just be a better version of 8th? as I am under the impression that the game was losing customers long before they discontinued Warh…

  • Quote from RobertR: “GW has a bigger pull both towards new players and the old WHFB fans so they will most likely win out. ” If that is true then why did so many paying customers drop off during 7th and 8th Edt. And why was the game cancelled in the first place? Your whole premise on this game relaunch also seems to ignore AOS. In my opinion AOS is the elephant in the room here, If AOS releases dry up in favor of new releases for TOW than I imagine we will see some very angry people. It might ma…

  • Quote from RobertR: “Quote from Parmineo: “But GW is a corporation that does not care about the gamer. They see T9A doing well and AOS is dying rapidly and they want market share. ” AoS is dying? AoS is actually growing and really fast as well. It's bigger than it has ever been and there's literally nothing that points to anything else. Ninth age is tiny compared to AoS. I play AoS as a second game now partly because the ninth age scene is so small and mostly contains players that have been play…

  • I am a lurker by trade but decided that this (debate?) is worth a post on. To be blunt. I can’t believe a person would want to jump onto GW's current never-ending $$$ release treadmill. Their business model is exhausting, and not long-term sustainable. What are they going to do with TOW; release new armies at the same rate as AOS? while also supporting AOS at its current release schedule? If so that's like 2-3 NEW fantasy armies each year, plus multiple dozens of other kits for the existing armi…
