  • Quote from VerminusValor: “Thank you and here is another question. Say i build a homebrew vs book. If it gains enough traction you think it could be "legal" for a to to admit it ? ” Always up to the TO. See the tournament packet (I think it's in there). the-ninth-age.com/community/fi…f3aaeb061e3515eaa9ed9ca4a Or rather, best way to get your book legalized is to be the TO Regarding homebrew, post your homebrew armybook in progress here: New army books

Quote from Tarf: “Quote from Chronocide: “If looking to spend more complexity, I'd like a VS/Skink profile variant of the Pledged to Darkness. And, if possible, an Ogre/minotaur/troll version. Maybe even an undead variant. Everybody should be able to be cultists.. ” I disagree. A cult can only exist where there is a high density of population (if not, it's a religion, not a secret cult. That's the difference between WoDG and Cultist IMO). Which mean an advanced civilization with specific cities.…

  • Quote from rolan: “@Chronocide its not meaningless. People play this game at tournaments to play competitively, they want to know what is possible., and they adhere to the official rules that are accepted to be the "standart" rules for the game. That is what makes tournament play interesting and possible, you can travel to a different city, different country even and join a tournament and all you need is your army and list, and you are accepted as a player there and you will know what to expect f…

  • Quote from rolan: “As long as this phrase is stil included in the supplements: They are produced by our teams and should be viable for use in any game, but you should seek permission from your opponent or tournament organiser to use, as they significantly increase the complexity of the game. They are not seen as official and are not used by most tournaments. They need to be phrased like this: All rules in this book are considered part of the Core Rules of T9A and should be available for use in a…

  • Quote from rolan: “wow, No way!If you want the supplements to be meaningful, make them simply as official as any LAB. ” They are already. But T9A player groups can set up their own rules, and so can the tournaments organizers. Yes lots of them say no supplements, but it's really not up to T9A. But it's like boycotting something: I mean, if my group says no supplements, so you run VS instead of the supplement, you're enabling my group to continue saying no supplements. You've established that it …

Checked out the new update. Really liked everything except hideout. I get the flavor kinda, I guess, but seems like a lot of optional complexity in a direction that seems kinda forced in and doesn't add much. If looking to spend more complexity, I'd like a VS/Skink profile variant of the Pledged to Darkness. And, if possible, an Ogre/minotaur/troll version. Maybe even an undead variant. Everybody should be able to be cultists...

  • Quote from BlackLancer: “ In any case, if your response to a criticism of the book is "go play a supplement", at least to me you are essentially saying "stop playing T9A, go play another game." ” All I asked was if he'd seen it yet. Don't jump to conclusions. @VerminusValor might find what he was looking for in the supplement, even if you don't. I don't know unless I ask. Regarding the too many books, you're preaching to the choir here. I think the base 16 should be hacked down to a small few. (…

  • Quote from VerminusValor: “i dont get it. Guidelines are stone carved? Everyone makes "mistakes" or..."mishaps" (see what i did here?). If the book changed due to a "op rats your complaints here" thread then how about now that there are more threads that sum up to "latest VS are dull af your complaints here"? ” Kinda. They are set in stone from the perspective of the LAB team. If you want to complain about VS being bad because they are following the guidelines and you don't like the guidelines, …

  • Quote from Evrithill: “The combat char Is the bloodfur legate. The doomblade Is the only very strong option for him. The others are ok but not amazing. ” Without the doomblade weighing in, I think the Goblin King is just slightly better than the Bloodfur Legate. Would like to see the Bloodfur Legate get Lance/Great Weapon Access. The lack of access to Before-Enchantment-AP2 seems to be his real shortcoming. Not a fan of the doomblade as is. Needs something, but not sure what - not a potion of sw…

  • Quote from rolan: “Yes, that is a problem. But not the problem I talk about.I really mean what I say, VS does not have combat characters. All the characters you mentioned will lose combat against any other armies combat characters, and their pesence on the field will not alter the plans of the opponent (maybe rush towards the dictator to quickly end the gme if possible). A combat character is something that makes a unit more threatening in melee against most if not all opposing units. VS charact…

  • Quote from rolan: “So now you agree that VS lacks combat oriented characters as you now say assassines are rightly very narrow in theri usefulness? Then why the discussion? ” I see your point, but I don't agree with you. As far as I can tell, the issue the VS players have is that there's no "customizable" combat character option. You have 4 combat characters, as far as I can tell, and several other single model units for combat, but none with options. Even several tough melee units. But that's no…

  • Quote from Elguigui: “Just like the legate (Secrets of the Doom Blade), which becomes useless 80% of the time without Potion of Swiftness because opposite armies with suitable targets have countermeasures (initiative penalty, initiative up, reduction of wounds multiple, snip etc etc ..) and it often dies alone like a big ” Yeah, not a fan of that one. Everything VS seems either too weak or too strong.... Quote from Elguigui: “and then, all the armies do not necessarily play melee characters, sud…
