Welcome to The 9th Age, your fantasy wargame universe, made by hobbyists for the community of hobbyists. Here, you will find the rules of our games (Fantasy Battles and Quick Play) as well as community support tools and background documents about the universe where T9A games take place. We also provide translations of our documents in French, German, Italian, Korean, Polish and Spanish (with even more translations in the works!). All of these are free and supported by many thousands of active members.
We have created 16 unique armies from the Dread Elves in the west to the Ogre Khans in the east. Each army has different units and playstyles and can be represented by 28mm models from any model company. We have created a game that is both balanced and fun. Don't believe us? Essence of War is a rules set in the Quick Play game system. It is designed for fast, simple, yet tactically exciting rank-and-file battles in the world of The Ninth Age. Both the veterans of many battles and new players with no wargaming experience can play a full match in 60-90 minutes.

Please note that when both Legendary and Slim books exist in the same version, either one is valid; otherwise the one with higher version number takes primacy. Documents not matching the "x" and "y" of x.y.z_# version of the Rulebook are not considered up to date.
Legendary Army Books are documents in which we provide an in-world view of the armies you can play in The Ninth Age: Fantasy Battles, with background context, illustrations and armies descriptions. While we do not have a Legendary Army Book for all armies yet, we work constantly to enrich this collection.
