Hello folks!
I thought I'd share with you a little side-project that we've had going on in my gaming group. We call it The 9th Age: Skirmish Campaigns (T9A:SC), formerly knows as Cityscape Skirmish. It is a game of small Warbands fighting to earn fame and fortune in the9th Age. You'll find it all in the following six documents:
T9A: Skirmish Campaigns - Rulebook v0.9.98
T9A: Skirmish Campaigns - Armies and Warbands v0.9.98
T9A: Skirmish Campaigns - Paths and Faiths v0.9.98
T9A: Skirmish Campaigns - Hirelings v0.9.98
T9A: Skirmish Campaigns - Scenarios v0.9.98
T9A: Skirmish Campaigns - Optional Rules v0.9.98

What you see above is the result of a few months of work, done mainly by me and @celarain, and with help from our whole gaming group. We started with simply rewriting all the rules, aiming for a tighter and more easily grasped ruleset. We used The 9th Age as a template and in the process adapted several mechanics from it, most notable perhaps is the charge mechanics and the whole principle of being allowed to measure any distances at all times. Based on previous experiences with the game we also made changes to try and improve balance and enjoyment, most notable here is probably the change to how damage is handled. With that ruleset we started up our campaign and have used it do some playtesting. As we moved along, we made further smaller changes to improve balance, and brought in more and more details from 9th Age for the sake of simplicity (weapon rules and characteristics are that much easier to remember if they are similar).
We are having a lot of fun with this rule set, and so we figured other might enjoy it too. It is imo still very true to the core of the game it based upon, while at the same time being clearer and easier to use, much thanks to the similarity to 9th Age. I personally find that the changes made improve both balance and gameplay, but this is of course based on our own meta and preferences.
Everyone is welcome to use these rules, and I'd gladly read any input you might have about it.
Happy gaming!

EDIT: Here are some links to a tool that we have been using in our campaign, an interactive warband roster. It's available both in .ots and .xltx format (template formats). The roster automatically calculates your Warband Rating and collects Maximum Characteristics when Species are specified. I've also included a link to my own warband as an example of how to use the roster, though only in .ods format and in an older version. I hope you'll find it useful.
