Tips for my first tournaments(?)

Hello everyone,

i've only recently (two months ago to be precise) started playing the 9th Age, but I've been playing Warhammer Fanatsy since the 7th edition.
I'll be attending my very first few tournaments in the coming month of September and was wondering if any of you already experienced tournament attenders could throw some useful tips my way.

Primarily focused on what to expect from the mindset of opponents I could face and which tools (such as laser pointers) I should bring.

Any help, advise or words of encouragement would be greatly apprechiated. :thumbsup:

I'm not experienced, only been to one tournament so far but I can tell you what it's like going to your first one. The time disappears. Trying to fit 3 games into one day, if you haven't done this before, is nerve wracking and exhausting. But loads of fun and will improve your game immensely. Try to relax and have fun. By the last game things will likely be a blur

- Enjoy yourself, don't care about your dice or bad luck in general
- Drink plenty (preferably water), hydration is important for your mind
- Eat plenty, empty stomach= loss of concentration
- Go to the bathroom between every round. Don't waste battle time during your round ^^.

Make sure that you have any transport and accommodation arrange ahead of time (airbnb can be useful for this)
If using public transport a backpack is a very good idea as it leave your hand free.

Having been to a few. The things which stick out in my mind is make sure you're taking an army you enjoy and you think other people may enjoy (to a degree) There's nothing more boring for either player than castling in a corner with some sodding gun line.

The second would be make friends there or go there with some. It's good to chew the fat after a game, talking about how things went, the good, the bad and out standing.

Which tournament are you going to in September?

Try to remember your rules, print out the magic cards, expect to lose plenty of games, always ask questions if you have them, be a fun guy not a d-bag, chat between rounds and enjoy yourself. the tournament scene is addictive regardless of how proficient you are.
