NB!: This thread has undergone major renovation last night 2019apr04... I have had the moderators merge all my hobby treads into this single thread, as I have come to realise, that a single thread is enough to keep up with my slow work tempo :P

The five threads that have been merged are my Highborn Elves, Orc&Goblin, Vermin Swarm, Infernal Dwarves and terrain threads. From now on future uploads will be whatever catches my fancy, but mostly a continuation of these projects in a very random order

This merging also have the added bonus of arranging all the posts in the different threads chronologically, so there might be a glitch or two in the conversations up to page 11.

I have noticed that a few pictures of my HE project on page 2-3 a missing, I will be looking into fixing that - otherwise every thing should be fine! Hope you enjoy

This will be a thread to show you my golden army of Highborn Elves. I've been in the hobby for almost 23 years, and elves have always been my number one passion. This army is finally beginning to take shape, but I'm a very slow painter... I'm hoping this thread will help me get the brushes out more often, so I'll have something new to show you guys once in a while.

About the army:
My elves are into gold. Not just a Little, but all that they can get their hands on. A large part of this valuable material came from 8th, when my mages turned hundreds of goblins into golden statues, and smelted them into the finest of armours. The clothes are the purest white - a bold display of their formidable laundry skills. The gems, and smaller parts here and there, are a deep purple, the most royal of colours, to give a little contrast.
All elves wears their long golden hair outside the armour so all can bask in their splendor.
All in all the army is very stylish, a trade they value above martial prowess... Something they come to regret almost every time I field them on the board

This army is full of conversions, re-poses, kit-bashing and modelling. In fact, this is the part I love the most - and part of the reason the painting is falling behind. At the same time I like my elves to look neat and orderly, so the models almost get a mono-pose look.

To kick off the thread, I'll start by assemblying all the photos I've shared in the gallery section so far. Later on I'll show you some of the other stuff I'm working on... Hope you like it.

First off my spear elves. These guys proudly displays their clean white dresses, borrowed from the archer regiments. They all got a spear-extension to better fight in four ranks. And of course long golden hair, as is fitting for an elf.

Next off my bolt throwers. I'm planning on putting these on round bases, but I always seem to find something else to do... it will properbly be one of the last Things I'll get done!

Some of my chariots... unfortunately, I bought some new horses for my Highborn Lancers and Elein Reavers that I've grown fond of. So I'll have to swap these ones in the future. But first I'll assemble and paint the othe chariots. The crew are made just like my citizen spears, and just need to have their own spears glued in place before they are done - apart from the horse-swapping of course!

The Sword Masters have always been one of my favourite models. These Guys have borrowed the heavy armoured legs from the citizen spears and covered the joint with a white scarf. Some of their blade are from a GW elven hero model - from back when you could still order single bits from GW - Oh, how I miss that acces to juicy bits!

And of course my proto-type for my Highborn Lancers. The horse and pelvis is from fireforge templar knights kit, the rest from the old GW Silver Helm, apart from the head. That comes from the citizen spears with an added plume taken from an old Slaneesh hero.

The dirt was just some earth colours dabbed on with an old brush, after removing most of the paint on some paper first - just like when you drybrush Still need to do this step to alot of my gyus above...

I don't know about the shield design yet. I'm leaning towards a small elven rune, but still keeping it mostly white. Feel free to come with suggestions The only thing I don't like is the big shield emblems that came with the shields as they seem waaay too thick to me (what are they, like 3mm or something!? )...

Alternatively, I've casted some shields from the old 4th edition HE shileds. I might make a unit with the sword trough a Heart design and one with the elven star - see the Pictures below:

Yeah I'm really glad with the gold effect too, plus it's relatively easy to do! The actual gold/white scheme is a tribute to the author Raymond E. Feist and his Valheru Dragon Lords who wore these colours in the old 'Magician' series.

Regarding the plumes - I was lucky enough to get my hands on a couple extra many years ago from GW, so now I just need the finishing touches with green stuff before the painting can begin in earnest...

@Vespacian: Thanks I would like for the army to have a veteran-in the field kinda look when it's finally done. Only a few models have gotten that treatment so far, but I plan on getting around to it someday.

Also dreaming of re-doing the banners using paper/cloth to get a more grisley/dirty/realistic look to them. Who knows, perhaps even a hole or two and some mud on them Only problem of course would be the free hand painting that would require for the motiffs...

The thing that i disliked about the old GW plastic Silver Helms heads (and bolt thrower crews heads) were that they seemed too large! At least when compared to the spear elves heads.

The different proportions made me decide to streamline all of my 'commen' elves through out the army - Here I'm talking: spears, archers, Elein Reavers, bolt thrower and chariot crew. And of course the heads on the Highborn Lancers!

I would love to see other peoples take on HE models, so by all means feel free to share in this thread if you like - or link to your thread, if you already have one up:)

Finished one of my mages last night... a simple haed-swap from the DE dragon rider to get rid of Allariellas HUUGE Crown

Here are the first of my Lion Guard. Apart from the hair and the ones on the tree trunk, they are as GW created them, making this unit the least converted in my army...

This guy just jumped in front of the camera and demanded to be photographed alone...
