Did someone mension that our military oriented army could change formation from 5 to 4 models per rank and line formation from 8 to 7 ? More ranks to cancell enemy steadfast . What do you think ?
The latest issue of the 9th Scroll is here! You can read all about it in the news.
Our beta phase is finally over. Download The Ninth Age: Fantasy Battles, 2nd Edition now!
Also, when you match up against 25mm bases, they enemy bus quickly loses a whole file of attacks. ...which might sound like not a big deal but when you factor in the points they per model, the bigger footprint for maneuvering, etc... it all adds up to a wtf moment of "I don't enjoy this". lol.
Anyway, I heard on the forum that the design teams have chosen to focus Dread Elves on a MMU style, and SE will be more MSU. Is this true and does that mean HBE will be the MBU?
If so, then I'd like to say I like this design direction.
Obviously I'm assuming that people can still take MSU stuff but the synergies of the army start to work better when taking MMU.
Mainly derived from this guidline information: "Main play styles use small- or mid-sized infantry combat oriented blocks, with support from shooting and/or single models or small shock troops (e.g. cavalry)." and this "DE is an army that thrives in MSU and MMU setting"
maybe remake corsairs like this:
Unit of max 15 models can instead of both options take repeater wristbows
(4 shots, aim 4+, range 12" s3 ap0, march and shoot)
That would make unit at least worth taking into 12" range, for sheer volume of shooting support
And dont make it overcostly, for 10 models i would pay like 10-20 more points than just repeaters
*note they cant take pw while wielding wristbows
I would have preferred Cults keep giving buffs instead of debuffs. Would be easier to manage and more fluffy..
So we no longer have Nabh hatred, or Yema giving + movement and strider? Correct me if I'm mistaken.
I see cults not as religious, but political/social parties taken to extreme, to the point of religious devotion. Cult priests are actually cult orators.
I would have Corsairs as part of the fleet section rather than hunters, but this version makes sense too. I guess hunters and fleet is one and same.
I'm not sure I "feel" the new magic paths; I don't see how DE cannot have divination master while their wizards are called Oracle? I know it can be changed easily of course.
DE, if they were religious at alL, would use said religion to rain down death upon their enemies... So Thaumaturgy makes sense if DE will be religious at all.
I think for breaking the will of slaves etc. evocation and thaumaturgy helps.
There has been a long discussion here on what those initial guidelines mean is there any update on the timeline of the book or if any of the concerns here were taken to the drawing table @GSbasic? An internet community is always hard to satisfy but I'm looking forward to the book a lot so mental support going out to them who write it!Have a look at my latest mini's and have a look at my beautiful and terrifying oracle and banner of gar Daecos freehand
Yes, having some viewing rights to the design process...some of the initial guidelines have been modified to fill in the gap and while I can’t point to which exact community ideas were take on board, I can definitely not some were as evident by @noir putting them to the team!
He’s probably the one with the intel on the timeline. What I can give you is something more abstract...if you calculate the lead time of the announcement that ID was going to be redone and the DE announcement, you’ll know approximately when the DE book will drop once the ID gets published.
- maybe Noir can share some hints?
To tack onto what Kir has pointed out, actual deadlines are not given to us. I will say the task team has been very active and each task seems to get an abundance of attention.
Sorry what is the question? The timeline regarding the release or what?

Imo t9a should hurry a little bit, they don't have infinite time to do the books, remebmer the gold edition was frozen for like 2-3 years, and it was quite a while ago, they should finish ALL the books before it
and adding it, that wfb is coming back in like 3-5 years they MUST finish it asap. now it's taking really too long to make the new books.
And really, screw the fluff. You can write it AFTER finishing the rules for armies. and should do so. It'll prevent from fluff team discrediting some good rules into play, or forcing stupid options (cadaron on raiders, or adding cadaron, olaron to DE)
The fluff is what is meant to drive book design actually.
And asking a team of individuals who volunteer countless hours to a project of no monetary gain is a lot to ask. The teams work very briskly and will continue to improve upon the process but I find it rather silly to demand volunteers follow strict timelines. The best way to hurry the process is to volunteer your own time
Can’t say anything about the timeline unfortunately As it depends on how fast were able to make process. I hope were able to reach the mec phase soon though.
The concerns voiced are more or less read by the design team, however it is the ACS job to give feedback to the concepts presented. so far it seems it was not necessary to do that, as we didn’t receive any. As you may notice I hardly take part in any discussions in the public forums nowadays, this is because I simply lack the time to do so as it is already hard to keep up with the pace in the pro forums for me. So I can’t follow every idea presented in the forums.
But I’m sure your ACS will give feedback where necessary, after each sprint. Again it seems it was not necessary yet.
