Agreed, remove the unnecessary barrier. I cannot link to threads in the Infernal Dwarf section on Chaos Dwarfs Online, since you have to be a registered member here to view them. Poor for outreach.
agreed. this has undesirable consequences:
army/gaming people must register to read. by doing so, they are also encouraged to post ("i'm already registered anyway..."). but hobby/fluff people dont need to register to read. this means that they would only register to write posts (which might be perceived as a "not good enough" motivation by some).
the current situation discourages the casual, relaxed hobby player from contributing to the forum discussions. it favours an elitist view of the palyer base - you only write if you are gaming-oriented, or if you are truly truly engaged. i think this can lead to a skewed image of the T9A community.
Agreed, it's a barrier for new people that doesn't need to be there.
So who in the top brass needs to see this to act on it and how do we wave this issue under their nose? I’ve yet to meet someone who thing the current firewall is a good idea but I’m opening to listening to reasons if there are any. If not lets slash the red tape.
I believe it's the way the software package we use was designed. But I'm not sure I would change it anyway as it would likely have the side effect of hitting the forums with a lot of spam/bots/unwanted garbage. It's already a huge task keeping that stuff out
Want to help out? The 9th Age is an all volunteer organization and we're always looking for like-minded folks! Message me if you are interested!!
