Seems that we will have "options" to create lists? interesting
-
Looks amazing, thanks for the good work, EoW Team!
I like the option of list creation and hope to get some people on train with this ruleset -

Different unit sizes is a good choice. I could see me playing 4500 point games with lists like this.

I wonder how the monster option for the åsklander chief works? -

You will definitely be interested in what is coming to you over the course of this week -
Jomppexx is right, the best results will be between 800 and 2500.
personal favourite is 1600, with 400pts core, very easy to start writing.
but stress tests are a good thing, so
this one is for jirga:
175 Chief (War Dais), general
300 Chief (Monster)
250 Seidhkennar (Chariot)
200 Asklanders (5x4)

You could always consider playing two EoW armies as an allied force. This is however not our main objective and not necessarily balanced. We will go deeper into this later today/tomorrow, dependent in which time zone you are located. -

So besides the name, what else changed? And how does this compare to T9A: FB - the big brother?
Plenty! Where to start? Maybe at the beginning
Our target audience:
While we continue to cater for beginners with predefined army lists, we also want to look after the more experienced players that are looking for a quick game. You will be able to play with a more advanced but still streamlined ruleset and create your own army.
It would also allow less experienced people to grow from a smaller army size and more basic rule set to a larger sized force and add more complex rules as you get more familiar.
Our objective:
The name change is intentional. The first change is a reference to “Quick Play”. We want to provide a quicker and streamlined way to play T9A but to maintain a similar level of depth and complexity.
Pissing off your better half when playing a full game that takes more time than expected while you should be having dinner or take care of kids at a certain time, no more!
The second and critical part of the name is “Essence of War”. You will have access to a Vault, Grimoire and Bestiary. You will also be able to field unique forces that each operate in their own specific ways that experienced players will recognise and that new players can identify with. Streamlining does not mean less immersive.
This is only a start to more immersive experiences whether you are more of a narrative player or just want a tactical game with a potential for epic tales to be told after.
Our approach:
We want to remain true to the identity of each army while ensuring each army has a similar number of units that can score objectives, has access to a similar number of spells, and can be led by a caster or fighter type character (or both in case of the more advanced ruleset).
Of course, a limited number of exceptions exist to make sure the armies operate in line with their identity and unique flavour while keeping a balanced and streamlined experience at heart.
For beginners, we have made it easier with predefined army lists and basic rules to introduce you to the game. This is further complemented with list building options and advanced rules later on when players are or become more experienced.
Moving up on the ladder will not have any units or models invalidated and is meant to be able to bolt-on. Of course, you have the liberty to build your list the way you want it to be and replace any units or models that you might have used in the basic version. That is all up to you!
Next steps:
Over the course of the week, we will be diving deeper into how the game plays, how you determine the winner, and what the various list and build options are.
Stay tuned! The post was edited 1 time, last by Garaz Zaki ().

200 Asklanders (7x3)

200 Asklanders (7x3)
200 Asklanders (7x3)
350 Huskarls (7x3)
250 Huskarls (5x3)
your fastest nightmare
(minimum body count: 43)
which one would you think has more chances of winning games?
which one would be the most fun to play?
and which one would you write instead? -
without knowing well Asklanders...
The 1st one seems well balanced, with 2 infantry blocks and then some MSU or Single models to flank and threat
The 2nd is pure infantry, probably had to win with this if you don't have experience
The 3rd is full pressure list, difficult to win too if you don't know how to move and chaff things -
I like the first most as it has good selection of different units which give nice variation.
