White Dwarf 275, “Defend to the Last”. Adapted version would be an army of ~2k points has to stop a 4500 point army from getting a certain number of scoring units across the table. Points killed don’t matter.

Fluffwise, I'm just a bit worried at the depiction of the Beast Herds.
It is great (and pleasantly surprising !) that you have them pictured as gnolls.
Gnolls are supported in the Ninth Age fluff, even though i'm not sure that their army would follow the same rules as Beast Herds, but why not, after all.
It is also wonderful that you actually did use Gnoll models !!!

On the other hand, the names of some units does not fit them (« Wildhorns »…).
Also, terms like « the Fetid » or indeed « Manrender » do not really represent our Beast Herds culture, at least as far as goat-men are concerned. Beast Herds have a shamanistic culture based on a « noble savage » ideal, heavily influenced by Native North American ideals with a fantasy touch, and a strong focus on accomplishing acts of greatness to be remembered in songs and stories (thus being granted eternal life).
Also, the names do not sound very Beast-Herdy to me, even though we haven't really defined the language and template for our Beast Herds yet.
On the other hand, it is true that young male Beast-men form Warherd whose only purpose is to attack other nations, while the kids, women and grandpa's stay in the « Hidden Herds ». So « Manrender » could work from that point of view, but then it would not be a « Clan », more like a squad or, indeed, herd, fit for purpose.

STILL… probably all those names and concepts could work with Gnolls, though… As we have decided nothing regarding their culture, society, etc. So they could be completely different in spirit, and only follow the same army structure as Beast Herds as a « count as ».
« the Fetid » definitely works for a Gnoll hero as i understand it lol.
––> Maybe you could rename the « Wildhorns » into something sounding more Gnollish, and add a « * counting as Wildhorns » somewhere ?

Nothing to comment on the Warriors' names, they all sound properly Chaossy, and i love the names you came up with for their units !!

Talking about the geography now, « Durehla » is an interesting name, cool
Now « Badlands » though is a really bad name, I'd really change it before publishing this on our official channels.
It immediately screams « Warhammer world » to me, and we want to avoid that.
Such a desert region as depicted could be anywhere in Qassar, the Copper Mountains, Naptesh, the Jackal Lands, the Barren Mountains or the Shattered Plain.
But given the names chosen for your Warriors, it appears that they must come from some Turkic-language culture, so i'd suggest this bit to happen either in the Shattered Plain or the Barren Mountains. More info about the geography could be given in the text.

Ah, and i found a typo here : « bounty of the lack began dwindling. » –> « lake »

@MASTERWIRED sorry I didn't mean to invite critique of background, especially as you don't have access to it. Just wanted to see the BR spread far and wide.

Hey mate, i didn't want to criticize you, on contrary i'm absolutely amazed by the quality of your models, art, and story !!!
Here i was just making a few suggestions to get your story more aligned to ours, in case we want to make this an official publication
And since i am the Linguistic team (yes, it's a one-man team at the moment lol), i had to question the names in your story. Like i do for all the other stories written by the BGT, they all hate me for that
But in the end this is something we are trying to build together.

No-one should have to join the Background team in order to get access to our fluff, we are trying to publish as much as we can, indeed we've already written a new sourcebook that will cover all factions, but it's been stuck with… (wait for it…) Layout. Since several months.

And i really I love that you are enriching our universe by bringing your Gnolls in Because i love Gnolls, i've even included them in a Homebrew we wrote together with Calisson.

Also, as i mentioned, our fluff is only very loosely defined for some elements so far, in some cases we've really just published stuff that we'd made up one week ago in a rush (as in, half the place names on the Vetia map in the BGCompendium).
So that was a bit my point about the Beast Herd language, at this point i can't really tell you what their names actually should be, even though I should actually be the first person to know. And i certainly don't have any clue about a Gnoll language, so i guess on this one i'll just follow your lead – i do have a few questions on how exactly you pronounce some of those names and what real-world language you base yourself on (if any), but they're not urgent.

And sure, Badlands can't be trademarked, just like « Drakwald » and « Altdorf » cannot (because « Drakwald » is a very generic name, and « Altdorf » is the name of several real-world towns already), but they still scream « This is happening South of the Border Princes » to me, see what i mean ? Just making sure people don't get confused about it.

Indeed, that's the goal, hence the remarks aimed at making sure it gets as consistent as it can get.
Else i would not bother haha
