About Me
About Me
Dear Reader,

My name is Thomas Karlsson, a jolly Viking from the northlands of Sweden, currently conquering Holland in my pursuit of world domination by making video game art. I have been into miniature board games for about 18 years now, and painting/conversions was always my favourite part of the hobby. I am thrilled to have a chance to work with the Art team on realising this new game!

How old are you?

Where are you from and where do you live right now?

From: Sala, Sweden
Currently: Emmen, Netherlands

What do you do for a living?

Lead 2D Artist at a video game studio

Since when are you in the hobby?

I started out in 5th edition of Warhammer back in 1998.

How did you get into the hobby and what have you done since then?

A friend of mine got me into the hobby. We were both interested in the art of the books and the compelling lore, so we would draw the art of the books and play with the figurines (we were not old enough then to understand the rules) and we started out learning how to paint miniatures.

Which armies do you play/possess?

Currently I own 4 armies, all of which I sadly left behind in Sweden when I moved away for work, but when the time comes, i will dust them off and take them to battle once again!

The armies I own are the Sylvan Elves, Empire of Sonnstahl, Orcs & Goblins and Daemon Legions.

Why do you support the 9th Age project?

I support the community because I have always been a fan of this type of large-scale board games, as well as the art and lore that has accompanied the armies. I have also been playing quite a few tournaments over the years, so I really like the competitive nature of the hobby, and the 9th Age is (in my humble opinion) a good place to see that thrive.

What is your personal role in the 9th Age project team?

At the moment I am the Assistant Head of Art, which basically means that I try and contribute to the look and feel of the project. I am very excited to be able to be a part of the team, and to share my passion for the hobby by providing artwork and artistic experience to try and create a world that feels alive and colorful.
