About Me
About Me
Name:
Jim Atkins

How old are you?
33 36

Where are you from and where do you live right now?
I am from, and still live in Maidstone, Kent, in the South East of England (best known in our community as the home of Dan Abnett, author of the Gaunt's Ghost novels among others, although sadly I've only met him once and didn't realise who he was until later).

What do you do for living?
I am an IT Technician at a secondary school.

Since when are you in the Hobby?
Since 1996

How did you get into the Hobby and what have you done since then?
A classmate ran some intro games of WFB 4th ed at a hobby day in school, and I was hooked instantly.

I have always loved Elves in fantasy so I started painting some High Elf archers, then a few months later the new Wood Elves book was released and they have been my main army ever since.

I have also delved into most other GW games at some point over the years, and I have a Tau army, although I stopped playing 40k a few years ago, when Unbound came out.

I also play Blood Bowl and Necromumda quite extensively, as High Elves and Delaque respectively.

Which armies do you play?
During periods when WE were waiting for a book, or the WE book was massively outdated I have used my WE as both other Elven factions, but WE remain my true love.

I have been Pagan since the late 90's and Wiccan since 2003, so Wood Elves have an extra relevance to me, and playing my army as the Wild Hunt lead into battle by the living manifestation of the Horned God himself is one of my favourite parts of the army.

Why do you support the 9th Age project?
I loved WFB, and like many others, I have no interest in AoS. I think T9A is doing a good job of building a new game to carry on the spirit of WFB, and which has the elements which separated WFB from other tabletop games.

T9A doesn't get everything right all the time of course, but that's why I got involved, to try to help ensure as much as possible is done right, and that the bits which go wrong are fixed.

What is your personal role in the 9th Age project team?

Community Support for the Sylvan Elves.
