The ETC 2016 Is About To Unfold ... !
Von Pinktaco,
Hello dice freaks,
Can you imagine a venue so large that it holds 120 wargaming tables? A venue so large that it can contain over 200 wargamers from over 24 countries? There is such a venue, in the heart of Greece, the cradle of creatures like Centaurs, Dryads, Griffins, Minotaurs, Cyclops and Gorgons. This venue will be the stage for 500 epic Fantasy Battles, in which valiant troops defeat stronger enemies, and shrewd generals try to outplay the opponent!
We are talking about the start of the European Team Championship 2016 (ETC) on the 3rd of August. That is next week! What is the ETC? The ETC is a wargaming event created for the players, by the players. It’s goal is to hold a yearly event where players from all over the world meet up and have fun. Like most tournaments it also provides the framework for meeting up and socializing.
The ETC tournament will feature a team- and singles tournament for Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age, Kings of War, Warhammer 40K, X-wing and Flames of War. Although the name of the event contains the word "European", there are teams coming from well outside Europe. The country teams consist of eight or six players (depending on game). The winner is the team that manages to gather the highest number of points in the event.
If you are a fan of 9th Age next week will be exciting, even if you are not on on site yourself! Over the last months, 24 team and 192 players sat down and created, tuned, tested and skewed 192 army lists that will clash into each other! One thing we know for certain: there will be blood!
How to follow the event? This year the broadcasting will come down to the players publicizing results, hopefully through Twitter and Instagram using #ETC2016 and #T9A in their messages. The standings can be found on Tourny Keeper, see all the links below. Some attendees have already announced that they would try to provide reports of their games, most likely on the forum. Also a great chance to cheer for your country - get psyched to see results coming in!
