    Post

Quote from Just_Flo: “@DanT @arwaker: I know you and RT and BLT work very much for the best of the game. Could you please give insight to the points mentioned above. ” Sorry, what is the question I'm answering? (I'm at an event and logged in briefly to over 20 notifications...)

  • Apologies for brevity, still away with limited internet. @Squirrelloid @Celegil It seems that the very axioms we are operating from are too different. Indeed, I am not even sure we are using the word balance in the same way. Alas I think we will struggle to find much common ground in a short period of time. This discussion is even less trivial than some our lovely physics discussions @Squirrelloid As I say, I hope to be able to provide more explanation on several HBE specific things on Monday, b…

  • Quote from Squirrelloid: “So, if not based on external overperformance, what could it possibly be based on? I mean, you can't be overpowered without some kind of comparison, right? There can be clear balance and design problems even in the absence of tournament data though surely? Or would you disagree with this? Designing something in a vacuum, and seeing it/experiencing it/hearing of it being played in the wild, are quite different things. ” I hope to pop in with some more specific HBE comments…

  • Quote from ferny: “Quote from Celegil: “Excellent stuff... ” You asked for opinions and to discuss things from what you say...I have nothing to add, I think you do an excellent job in tracking down, presenting and analysing the data. I agree with your approach and your conclusions. @DanT - when you're back from Bristol, have a scan of this analysis please. Please let us know your thoughts if you have time, but would be glad just for confirmation that you've read it and it's something you can mul…

Quote from Herminard: “Mhm. Firstly - let me publicly state that I think @Frederick is doing an immense job with Herford as European Gaming Hub - even matching the standards of @Severian and the Novi Sad crew - that @ForsetisMuse is not only a gentle soul, but also a very capable one - and that the T9A couldnt possibly be what it is without the forum platform that I understand is engineered by @tiny. Secondly - if the Spirit is there - I can ask for little else. Thirdly - it is both clever and a…

Quote from Herminard: “ A more optimistic approach of the game is much needed. I have long argued that a round of Balancing where _absolutely_nothing_ is nerfed - and _all_ underrepresented and/or (with an operative and) underperforming entities were scrutinized - would reap huge positive outcomes and enthusiasm while still improving Balance. Certainly the overall power of the game would increase - but I am as certain as a sage can allow himself to be - that with wise overseeing - the peak power…

  • Quote from Fassa: “Quote from DanT: “RT are not of the opinion that the hotfix process was flawless. In light of this the May update process is being modified. My expectation is that the May process will deliver a product that is better received, but that is just personal opinion. ” dude....bad bad bad very bad work. Are u a child? ” I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are saying here, perhaps because I am indeed not your intellectual equal. Could you perhaps elaborate a little so I can unders…

  • EoS 202 Hotfix Feedback

For the record, I couldn't make the RT meeting where the voting was done on the final decisions, but I think they chose exactly the things for EoS I would have advised them to choose. So credit needs to go to the rest of RT too.

    Post

@Eldren I was literally about to go to sleep when this popped up on my notifications. I am in no state to give you a sensible answer now, but I won't have much time or internet over the weekend. PM me on Sunday evening with a link to your post, and I'll get to it as soon as possible next week. Massive apologies. Dan

Jeez. GW knights back, longer support rule range, faster steam tank, KO without KC, militia treated as insignficant... Points changes pretty flat across the board. And you guys are still more negative than positive

  • Quote from Qwerty: “Don't ask me why, but I got the feeling this "model agnostic" facade would instantly fall apart as soon people started bringing viking playmobil armies led by an exalted Mr.Potato, whose interchangeable body parts perfectly resemble manifestations. ” Genuine question: why should it be up to us what people do in their garages or at events? That is up to gaming groups and TOs to decide.

  • Quote from Discoqing: “Just to let everyone know, I'll be using the hotfix rules. ” Why would you want to do such a thing?

  • Quote from Krokz: “Quote from DanT: “Ok, I will ask internally about clarifying this. ” We, authors of TO pack, have clarified this several times:Rulespack has (!) Rules and (+) Guidelines. WYSIWYG is a Guideline. Every local meta has its own specifics, this is why we explicitly say in Tournament pack that organiser can use his own custom rules, especially on stuff that is tagged as Guidelines. ” Fair enough, but it seems there is still confusion, no?

  • Quote from Salgar: “ Quote from DanT: “For what its worth, I think we can do a better job of catering towards "narrative/experience" players without being meaningfully detrimental in what we are providing for "cognitive challenge" people (my choice of words to describe the greatest polarising axis amongst the player base, I know others internally disagree with my choice of words). ” I agree that it can be done. I don't think that it WILL be done. Too much work and not enough impetus, IMO. I don'…

  • Edit: post I was responding to was removed.

  • Ok, I will ask internally about clarifying this. Maybe we can put a giant stamp across the document of soemthing.

  • Quote from Pellegrim: “the official T9A tournamentrules advices WYSIWYG in T9A tournaments. ” Depends what you mean by official. My understanding is that this is just a document provided for TOs to use if they wish. It does not imply to form part of the 9th age game.

  • Who knows what will happen with O&G trolls in their full rework? Maybe they will still exactly as they are, I don't know. It seems to me, although I have not had this conversation with anyone specifically, that t9a is moving towards not having any units in more than 1 book.

  • @Happy Aspid I haven't really been involved with the WotDG process, so perhaps @Krokz or one of the ACSes can correct me. But my understanding is that what you are looking for cannot exist, because it is a holistic process. There is no single thing that cannot be included, instead there is a set of possible books, some of which have this thing and some of which don't. It then comes down to the pros and cons of specific instances, on which no two people will agree I suspect. So there can be plaus…
