  • Quote from Konrad von Richtmark: “Not sure how I can be "unwilling" to see what I don't have access to see in the first place. I've read what has been made public by the different actors in this matter, the HbE ACS especially, since you've been so vocal about it. Your initial proposed nerfs of the most OP elements of your book were so minimal that I found reason to question your ability to meaningfully cooperate with the rest of the actors in the design of the hotfix. ” Calm my good man I do not…

  • Quote from Konrad von Richtmark: “Ah, okay. That does give more perspective on it. Would you also have been fine with (+1Adv, +1S)? Dno about RT as a whole. There was no consensus to agree to this for the hotfix, but with more time to look at and work it all through its possible. Particularly if we become convinced that what we did to Ryma was a poor choice. I was sympathetic towards this when it was discussed, I want to sit down and look at the numbers on a few other things though. I suppose th…

  • Quote from Konrad von Richtmark: “@DanT, it's good that you take the time to come here and explain some of the rationales for the decisions by RT. Your post does give valuable perspective on things. As I said, if there's an information vacuum, it will instead be filled up through speculation, mostly driven by preconceived notions. I could, for instance, never have guessed the reason for making the Navigator's Banner 0-1. Though I'm not convinced by the rationale, I can now understand it, it seem…

  • Quote from Squirrelloid: “Quote from DanT: “Quote from Squirrelloid: “You should use historical data to demonstrate that this works. That would be fascinating. ” ” Hitting this quick cause I have references in front of me. Some work has been done in history and other fields with similar lack of hard certainty. See: Hunter, Douglas. Political-Military Applications of Bayesian Analysis: Methodological Issues. Buck, Caitlin, William Cavanagh, and Clifford Litton. 1996. Bayesian Approach to Interpre…

  • Quote from Squirrelloid: “(Damn, I replied about the sciency stuff but it vanished. Ah well, that wasn't important for t9a purposes anyway). I don't know that I can demonstrate that systematic effects don't dominate the data. But it cannot be any worse than gut feelings. Bold claim. Let us flip this around for a bit of fun. Presumably, you could use the data to write the perfect army list, right? After all, if these experts don't know what they are talking about then they wouldn't be better at w…

Quote from jgetsi: “THIS.@DanT the problem is that already mediocre performing units were hit with either nerfs in their actual ruleset or in their points cost. The problem, as i have felt is made abundantly clear from the community, is that nerfing something just because it is seen a lot doesn't address internal balance at all, just as @Baldin wrote, it only makes it harder to stay competitive. And the fact that feddback is request by the powers that be, it is given in abundance by the communit…

May I advise focussing on getting to the bottom of the problems and precisely defining them. This is much easier for us to work with than a wish list.

My list actually doesn't change much after the hotfix, but the changes to cosmo are bad for it. But SE don't suit me, and my goal for the year is to take a different army to each event, so I'm not gonna take them to another event now. I feel that I owe it to the community to use as many armies as possible now I have been given a role on RT. This is very ni…

  • I came 3rd of 58 last weekend with 9+8 pathfinders But SE don't suit me, and my goal for the year is to take a different army to each event, so I'm not gonna take them to another event now. I feel that I owe it to the community to use as many armies as possible now I have been given a role on RT. My list has thicket beasts that I would use as shields vs that EoS list. But I appreicate that I am a bit weird for taking that many thicket beasts (12+2 shepherds). I don't rate those EoS lists for an …

Quote from Baldin: “@DanT and @Kolata, The problem is not that the Giant by itself is weak, or that the Gargantula is now weak due to her point increase. As I have stated in many posts, even before the hotfix, O&G has always been around slightly below average when it comes to performance, however we have received nerfs to many units that did not over perform. Prime example right now is the GGI and before the GWT. What the O&G community needs desperately is hearing the reasoning behind th…

Quote from sgu97bjd: “Waaarghammer does not represent the majority view here and he is clearly just trying to bait the rules team when most us are trying to use the opportunity to understand the changes in the hotfix. Instead of trying to reason with his unreasonable post it would be great if we could get some answers the more reasonable questions here such as @MikaelO at post 270. If the answer is that it is based on tournament lists from a couple of big tournaments using the new rules then thi…

Quote from WAARGHammer: “Guys...seriously, why bother? Just let the team destroy the OnG army and move on to better armies that have fun tools. I don't have fun with OnG lists anymore. It's a boring army and not worth the time invested to try and convince people that desperately want OnG to be terrible at literally everything..."jack of all trades" = terrible at everything. Unless you're running a gimmick list that's super cheesy you're not going to do well... BLT and ACS...just remove the army …

  • Quote from Calcathin: “@DanT Yes I need to learn to use less words AlexCat summarized it much better: Quote: “Funny thing, I followed just the opposite line of thought. ... Navigators I envisioned allows you to advance forward. In the enemy charge zone if needed. ” That is exactly the same way I envision it and what we had in mind when designing it. A tool to allow early march of infantry units into objectives area, even if that means getting in charge range. Very different from protect the cast…

    Post

Apologies, I cannot be everywhere. O&G had no ACS for the update so this is why I spent some time there. I don't have VS stuff at the top of my head: we considered something like 150+ changes over all of the books... Contact the task team, particularly the ACSes. They can easily get answers about points from BLT through internal channels. And I think RT already answered some questions, we certainly had some discussion with Hasker at least.

  • Quote from AlexCat: “(A) During our discussion, you admitted not once, that may be some nerfs were too much. Because the army was considered OP by the EE counsil and whole community initial feedback, this was the approach to make: better to overnerf some things rather than leave the army still OP. (B) Do you agree that you overdid some things or do you not? Are there things you would have done differently? (C) Are you satisfied with your job on the HBE Hotfix? As a RT team I mean, not as a perso…

  • Quote from Hachiman Taro: “Same with Chariots, which Skirmishers in real life avoid way more easily than ranked troops... Stomps, basically same. ” Now you're just being greedy. Besides, which real world stomps are you talking about here?

  • Quote from DJWoodelf: “most warmachines ignoring cover is a huge problem for SE (especially elven combat blocks) and IMO at least partially weird/unrealistic/unimmersive. ” Catapults ruining skirmishers is definitely strange. I fire a big rock at your 10 spread out guys. 8 die. Oh...

  • Quote from Adam: “Are there any examples of tournament lists with multiple unit infantry wall with navigators standing in front of gunline (I'll hint that it doesn't fit in points at all unless you take no characters) and 0-1 navigator doesn't do anything against single rank LG with HWoF that is the only thing that could be used in such build (even though it still makes no sense) So to sum up: many changes were done to prevent things that were not seen at all (cavalry deathstars, infantry wall g…
