Small update. I didn't have enough time to finish any terrain in preparation for this tournament, or rather, I set my detailing goal too high to be able to make it. So I abandoned that idea when I realised this. Instead I painted up my little wizard. 19341-3473ef62.jpg 19340-6e40e479.jpg Some things about this miniature: I wanted a Cosmology wizard, cause I really enjoy that path for how it plays. Personally though I don't feel the path fits the traditional empire wizards very well from a backgr…

Thanks for all the comments guys, I really appreciate your kind words Quote from Mikael.K: “Looks fantastic! I´ve had the pleasure of playing vs @Mad 'At´s VC army a few years back at a tournament and it looks equally amazing ” Hey, I'm trying to up my game here, equal to my old army would be a failure Quote from Windelov: “Great work. This should become a small painting showcase in the scroll or similar (if not already done). @Henrypmiller ” This is being looked at. though a showcase for a sing…

Quote from micdicdoc: “Hehe, seems I was half right then I was thinking that because the one on the right was trickier you might have gone for it first; spending a bit more time on and not tiring yourself out on other models before getting to it Maybe it's just my poor standard of painting, but I do not see or even acknowledge ( ) your claims that it doesn't look detailed and even looks worse in places. Really, your standard of painting is superb; I wouldn't even look at this miniature and think…

And the winner is.... @micdicdoc! Have a like! I painted the left one first, and as usual put a lot of effort into it. Then painted the right one to practise on the trickier stuff and experiment more. The face might look less detailed there because I didn't consider that one of the trickier areas to get right, so didn't give it much attention. The hair also looks a lot worse in that attempt because I experimented with doing more careful and symmetric waves in it, but unfortunately made the stran…

Quote from greentide: “I really love those ogres as unit fillers in a EoS army, hopefully one day they`ll work as real units in an official Iron Crowns army. ” Quote from micdicdoc: “Velmi excited about seeing the whole unit - well done, friend! They are looking simply superb I agree with @greentide on the ogres as unit fillers. I'm not usually a fan of unit fillers, but with each model being so unique and individual, the rugged ogres just add to the individualistic character of the unit ” Thank…

Puh! It's been too long. Almost a month since the last update, time really does go to fast. But I haven’t been completely idle, the halberdier unit is just about finished. Here is the champion, the standard bearer and the second ogre: 19033-e119ab91.jpg 19031-05156733.jpg And the second ogre together with his base companion: 19032-e122b4e2.jpg Part of the reason this took so much time is that the ogre had a little accident. Halfway through painting he took an express ticket to the floor. there h…

For those who have read the Book of Askar: 2dakpf.jpg

  • Quote from Crafty: “With regards to the very complex series of charges / charge reactions laid out - I understand that it's helpful to see a complex sequence like this to then see how the different rules interact together, but that's a terrifyingly complex diagram to digest. I think this happens in a few different places in the book. The diagrams are correct (of course), but sometimes they use the most complex situations as an example, that it takes the reader a short while just to work out what…

  • Quote from Casp: “@Mad 'At Is it you who have done all figure from the BRB ? May i ask to you wich software is used ? And what do you think about post #12. If the software is illustrator, i coud help. ” I use Inkscape to make the images. I like the arrow design you used, and the terrain. The terrain I've used is the same as the one used in the example maps, to keep consistency. Not sure if it is worth it. Not sold on the muted colours since I feel it reduces recognisability. Removing the fade fr…

2c84c1.jpg Kudos to @Kudis, whom I stole the list from.

  • And yet, when the default army size was reduced from 5000 pts to 4500 pts, there was an outcry. And there are suggestions of BLT only being allowed to reduce cost to increase balance, which will inevitably lead to powercreep and even larger armies. In many ways it doesn't matter what the project does, people will always complain. Of course we should try to attract new players, but we shouldn't compromise the nature of the game while doing it.

Quote from kollibri: “That will be a good looking unit thats for certain! What will be your next endevour? ” After this unit I'll start up the terrain workshop again an prep for a tournament I'm co-hosting this summer. After that I might do a unit for my VC army or either a Warmachine or some Light Troops for EoS. So much to so, so little time

The last update of another batch of 5 Halberdiers. This makes 40 of them. 18700-f500dbe2.jpg 18699-2a949ef8.jpg Really happy with the girls of this group. The one in the middle just looks so tough, and the other has such pretty red hair. Took a while but I think I have a recipe down for red hair now. All that is left now is the Standard Bearer, the Champion and the second Ogre. Oh, and the banner of course. Cheers!

  • Quote from Eisenheinrich: “I assume the charge of C on G is there in order to include information on a unit only being able to charge (D on F) unless another unit charges first, and on redirecting if other charges have been declared in between? ” That and that you can choose Shot after having chosen Hold. Quote from Eisenheinrich: “ Maybe slightly change the position of E or B so that the flee arrow of E doesn't overlap with the label of unit F in b)? ” I would, but those are also the most diffi…

  • Quote from piteglio: “very interesting, mad 'at. maybe i'd try and make clear which units belong to which faction. of course there'd be a caption, and of course you can consider that all charging units belong to the same faction, but it'd be nice to have the units follow a clear colour coding (active player: shades of red; reactive player: shades of blue). otherwise, the image could be quite difficult to parse for the reader. ” I went with all greens belonging to one player and all others to the…

  • Quote from Kasocles: “I'd like to see: - a figure for a total charge sequence, with the possibilities of redirecting, failed charges, catching units etc. ” Been working on this. the result so far: pxbGTIl.png dF9ZDMv.png This will probably be a full page spread in the book. Could have done a simpler case to make it shorter but I felt it was worth it to point out some of the more intricate details. What do you think?

  • Quote from Kasocles: “Quote from Mad 'At: “2. Do you realise how many cases are possible is everything is to be covered? The idea behind the current image is to show all the cases that grant either Soft Cover or No Cover, for there are the only cases where the positioned of the three units involved isn't super important. ALL other cases will grant either Hard Cover or no LoS depending on weather the target is fully or only partially covered. But I understand your point, especially Tall and Skirm…
