  • only 3 pages ago, this thread had so much hope. Now its back to people wishing the game was just like another game. I cannot stress this enough - FORCING 'flavour' into the rules is not a good thing. As it was already said, your idea of flavour, is possibly your opponents version of game breaking un-fun designs. I firmly believe that for the most part as the FAB begins, things will be added back in to give armies a new identity that reflects the new fluff. Will it be the same 'flavour' ? no. But…

Games between my group are closer than ever (far fewer 20-0's) than in any previous system, which c…

  • i have to stress that the "fun" is subjective. One players "Remove this, its OP" is another players "soul" of the game. T9A pulled a lot back, but I think we will see the slow adding back of these things as the project grows during 2.0

I want to try sculpting, but I need to practice basics. Im thinking playing around with plasticine may be good to get used to basics without wasting material

  • if you can get @Karak Norn Clansman to sculpt us some byzantine themed vermin swarm... Man oh man. My wallet will cry, my wife will leave me, but the minis...oh the minis.. As far as undead. Look through the forums and see what people are doing and see what you think you can do better. UD conversion kits (shields and heads to get that egyptian theme). Big nasties, cav, chariots, unique units, etc... Research the market and make sure you're filling a gap Welcome and good luck!

  • @Karak Norn Clansman Do you recommend beginning with plasticine as a 'sketch' material to practice with? Does it have similar feel to scultping with greenstuff?

I do like the displacement rule though, but its just an opinion thing I suppose?

  • Quote from Scorbol: “Hi guys, Sorry if this is stepping out of the subject, but I've just been confronted to a situation for bringing new players and I wish to get some advice. I just met a group of very active players of WHB 8th ed (like 1-3 games a week). I did a game against the "group leader", really nice guy, it was a cool game with soft lists. I did not play too hard also so it ended in a draw, everything fine. The guy told me he likes it, runs smooth, he is a bit disapointed of unit size …

I don't get whats so in-elegant as "no model can displace/move further than its march rate" Because thats what the rule is really. the rest is just clarifications of this. You can have conga lines, but they will be unwieldy and vulnerable/have difficulty reforming due to this rule. I play x2 units of 9 rank deep Rats at arms - Keep the march displacement rule - it really stops you from getting REALLY gimmicky with the movement mechanics or our style of game. I would rather just see a new formati…

@Warboss_R'ok How would the table look if we just stepped the to-wound chart to be a differnce of 2 instead of a difference of 1? ie: Str 4 vs Res 1= 2+ Str 4 vs Res 2= 3+ Str 4 vs Res 3= 3+ Str 4 vs Res 4= 4+ Str 4 vs Res 5 = 4+ Str 4 vs Res 6 = 5+ Str 4 vs Res 8 (or greater) = 6+ 1 always fails, 6 always succeeds. I feel like this may still improve the spread and allow some sort of nuance in the game (especially since we're already used to jumps of +2 to the statline from spells and effects). …

(meaning the minimum for function is 3, rank bonus at 5, Line formation at 8. But that would likely make the rules clunkier. Still, I'd be willing to houserule it in my b…

While not a fan of conga lines, I feel like x3 wide is the most 'gentlemanly' minimum that is acceptable. Still - that makes perfect sense in limiting their incoming damage massively reduce frontage/post combat reform into a conga line. Or we could revert to the days before 'step up'
