I can tell you put quite a bit of effort into explaining the all legal minutia surrounding the 9th age project. Will read it as soon as I have the time. For now I have a question, that I do not think is answered. Why US law? How does conflic of laws/forum work in regard to copyright? Is US law the most copyright-holder friendly? Would GW forum-shop for it? Thanks for your time.

  • Hm. Archers are difficult. Some brainstorming: We already got Brigants (or whatever they are called now) which cover: -mobile shooting -elite (for KoE) shooting -can serve as chaff -somewhat small numbers -somewhat expensive -special deployement Also KoE isn't an army of good shooters. So in order to differenciate our Bowmen from other armies but also from the brigants, I think they could be: - less mobile - less strong individual shooting - cheap - huge units Possible roles: 1) Damage To increa…

  • Ok, so on the current army book.. I don't like huge parts of it. Just the essentials: 1) Can someone explain, why we don't have a universal lance formation anymore? Monstrous Ranks alone just won't cut it. All units larger than 6 except KotR would need to go wider to max their attacks. This will essentially bury the classical lance formation. 2) Why no more Virtues? Will they be put in later? I see a huge loss of flavour here. 3) Why different horses? You are seemingly trying to bandaid the univ…

  • OK, I'm very confused atm. Can someone link me the current book. Whenever I open the the links they all lead to the same google drive version that is seemingly outdated? [edit] Found it. Glad to see that much of what I wrote is still true. First glance quick review: Dislike: Missing Virtues, Universal Lance formation, Steeds, Countercharge, Lance Fournie, Ducal Guards, Order of the Lady, Cataphracts, Reliquary. OK: Everything not mentioned above.

  • Last but not least: Breath of the Lady: Dislike. I prefer the current hereditary over this. I generally prefer offensive buffs over defensive ones as defensive ones often just mean your opponent will let them through and target another unit that was not protected by the spell. This is especially true for KoE with lance formation that can get multi-charges easily. This is especially especially true if this spell doesn't have an aura version. Also the spells protective properties currently do noth…

  • I kinda like the oathless Duke and Paladin... I also don't quite get the problem if there's a Grail Lord option. Is the naming a problem? (Just name the Grail Lord Duke if you want?) Background-wise I prefer Grails of all sorts to be rare as it requires superhuman feats and devotion (also maybe plain luck) that not many even many of the heroes in KoE will bring. This shouldn't mean that a "normal" duke is a bad guy or not pious. He just isn't one of the select special out of all the already spec…

  • Cont.: Army composition: Love it. No peasants in core, only mounted units. This really makes our army unique and goes with the theme. I'd explore @echoCTRLs suggestion of adding options for limited core peasants. There are tons of options how it could be done w/o destroying the knightly theme of the army (only large units count as core; certain other unit choices (duke; bailiff) enable limited peasant core; magical items and or virtues enable limited peasant core; and so on). I don't like the ex…

  • Cont.: Anoited: Torn. Agains: At first I was against it. It replaces the blessing, the second very iconic KoE/old Bret rule. Aegis (even onyl 6+) just makes every unit in the army seem kind-of magical going right along with my view of the army as not-historical (aka why are you not playing historical wargames boring) but more mystical. The annoited rule seemed to make part of the soul of the army optional. Also it's an invisible upgrade. Also this now makes 2 chaos-y mark-y options (annoited + v…

  • Didn't comment so far as quite frankly I didn't like the first draft very much. The current version is looking pretty good though. Oath of Civalry : Like. Lance Formation: Like. Anvil Formation: I would move it. Background reasoning : The Lance Formation is THE iconic formation of KoE (formerly Brets) since 5th edition and creating another distracts from that. Having multiple formations also makes them feel more tactical/EoS-ish. Rules reasoning : Only one unit can have anvil formation so it sho…

  • Didn't play nor am I interested in playing but may I ask why you went for cross-references to other books instead of making a full book with some entries copied over? It's pretty annoying to read.

  • Quote from Norbaminiatures: “Finally tell you that if there will be major changes in the miniatures of Koe, we will remove the 2 edition and disappear almost all of the 1 and then we will not produce them again. A greeting. Eduardo Barroso. ” Hej Eduardo. I'm not sure I understand this right. What models are going to disappear when? What is 2. and 1. edition? I'm a KoE player and need to know.

  • Could you put some art/stories/rules in the next scroll maybe? Was hoping for something like that in No 10 already.

  • Quote from Baranovich: “Well, I would assume that a good deal of it goes to the actual cost of running the site, the band width, etc. Which is why I mention all the free content. Blonde Beer creates the 9th Scrolls which is a huge amount of work all on its own. Those alone are worth a donation in my opinion. ” The donation site lists the cost of running the site @ 3xx € p.a. but asks for 2000 € for non-specific stuffs. I also don't think any of the contributers will get any of the donations ever…

  • It would help to know where the money goes. 9th age linked kickstarters show how much money people here are willing to spend on specific goals. Just a few examples: 1) You need [specific amount of] €s to run the site right now? Sure I guess I can spend a few bucks. 2) [specific amount of] €s for specific promotional supplies? Sounds nice. 3) Improving the site layout? Sure. 4) Printing books. I want one. ???) ????? € for ?????. Idk mate. Maybe make a wiki-style banner from time to time..

Elefant man seems interesting. Can you tell me how tall he is to his eyes? I still need a giant for my jungel beasts.

  • Quote from Calisson: “What would you think about printing the compendium of all Slim Army Books? It will get out of date only slowly , one AB after another. ” So, after Gold 9th age will stop readjusting current army books untill they get their FABs? I can't really believe that tbh, especially not if the pace of the books stays slow. Quote from JimMorr: “Copyright risk in case of the slimbooks exceeds my tolerance level. ” What does that mean? Quote from JimMorr: “Anyway I believe in printing of …

Bei den Magielehren gefunden: Occ Aurazauber hat keine zweite Version. Thaumaturgie No 4, Reichweitespalte nicht richtig formatiert. Danke für die Arbeit.

  • Quote from Eisenheinrich: “Since the opposiste of 'successful' is 'failed', and since The Stars Align (I assume that's the source of the reroll?) makes you reroll failed to hit rolls, I'd say you get to reroll both rolls. ” Hmm. I'd say its one to-hit roll even if it uses up to two dice. So I'd only use one reroll. Fail on first die > Reroll. Fail on second die > no more reroll because you aready used it on the first die.

  • Quote from Eisenheinrich: “Quote from Diablo_DF: “How would I explain my opponent that Occ 12" Aura hits friend AND foe? ” If you have a universal spell that targets a single unit, you may choose either a friendly unit or an enemy unit (like Savage Fury/Shamanism). Using an aura spell, you do not get to select what units are affected and which aren't: < 11.B.c.2 Aura This is an area of effect spell. Its effects are applied to all possible targets (according to the rest of the spell types). For e…

  • How would I explain my opponent that Occ 12" Aura hits friend AND foe? He argued the following yesterday. Since the version is "universal" and universal means The spell may target both friendly and enemy units. he could simply choose not to target his own units. To me it is pretty obvious that the may does not present such a player choice but is determined by whatever the spell says the targets are. The spell "mays", not the player. Otherwise the "does not hit mages unit"-thingy wouldn't be need…
