  • Quote from Fnarrr: “Its worth noting archers have another cap, so that theorem doesn't necessarily work - but that's minor. More on point, in terms of output the bow is a fair bit higher than 3 archers: at long range its 2 extra shots hitting on 2+, which is slightly better than 3 archers hitting on 4+; at short range the hits are lower but the +1 to wound benefit to those 2 shots and the 3rd "base" one outperforms the 3 archers yet again. ” Yes I also evoked that limitation, and yes it is bette…

  • Quote from Fnarrr: “@Hachiman Taro that bow lets a must-take character (BSB) provide good shots that don't come out of the shooting cap; i know PF kindreds dont either (contentious issue for me, its why I left BT at the time) but since they cannot be BSBs at least the per-shot nvestment is high for them. Its basically bad design, where the only way to balance it on list level is to hammer it with price. I'd blind price at 75-80 myself (~3 sylvan archers), but the full 100 wouldnt surprise me. If…

  • Item To replace: Drums of Cenyrn Glyph of Cenyrn (50 pts): The bearer may reroll to failed to-wound rolls with its close combat attacks I don't think Drums of Ceryn are often used. Personally I never use it. A contrario,I find it hard to build combat Prince because it's reallt hard to fin offensive points of magic items. IN particular, since potion of strength and divine Icon don't exist anymore, you just take a usual 60 points weapon and curse of the black stag, and that's the end, you can't re…

  • It's probably influenced by playstyle and sensibility, but in my opinion HE's reapers make a really large difference. They're efficient, work very well with that kind of guerrilla playstyles and most of all are very reliable (because they will always do their simple job, you don't have to make complicated risky plans to use them, etc.). If we had some I would max them every single game, especially since for some unknown reason they are separate from other shooting. Being able to threaten/soften …

I would really like a unit with a rule like Sea Guards, but our archers aren't just generic, they have Sylvan Longbow, it's quite strong !

  • Quote from DanT: “Quote from Serwyn: “Yeah, changing an error, a typo, or even some inspired rule interaction is fine, because they weren't supposed to be in the release in the first place. Here it's nothing but a balance change, it's different. No, I certainly don't think you're targeting SE, obviously. But in the end you still give a sudden unexpected nerf to a unit. You didn't do that to buff an underpowered entry. ” Actually, we did buff something in the "emergency patch" (my words, no-one e…

  • Quote from DanT: “Quote from Serwyn: “The problem is that it was said "no change until autumn, no change until autumn", but when it's about nerfing SE, no need to respect that. That was pretty obvious it wouldn't be welcomed. ” We had an emergency chat about this and a couple of other things. There was a HBE issue that hadn't been spotted, as well as some unforeseen consequences of changing wording and a few other bits. We felt these issues were big enough to be worth doing these 3-4 changes 2 we…

  • Honestly I dont find 100pts/TB to be really disproportionate. It may be a bit too high or too low, but not unplayable IMHO. Could have bring back min size 3 however, with the point increase. The problem is that it was said "no change until autumn, no change until autumn", but when it's about nerfing SE, no need to respect that. That was pretty obvious it wouldn't be welcomed.

Quote from Hachiman Taro: “Quote from Wesser: “Quote from Hachiman Taro: “Quote from Wesser: “I'm largely happy with everything. I can't get worked up by a couple of magic items being worthless and/or overcosted (although I wish Mistwalker's Mirror wasn't a big joke). ... So honestly evening out this RPS factor is my only real wishlist (well and fix Mistwalker's Mirror) ” Did you notice that Mistwalker's Mirror became more useful with the new Hereditary. ” Nope, because it didn't. It requires a …

  • About Sylvan cloaks, can we still hope to have a design update where it can be changed to something better fitting, or will we have to wait until full redisign in X years ?

  • I don't quite get the changes to the Glyph... DS is a really weak stat. This is equivalent to -1 to hit except against 0S7 ennemies, which are the majority of opponents. In duel we will still be hit on 4+ most of the time, on 3+ because quite a lot of things have/can have lighting reflexes and on 5+ rarely, because dangerous lords don't have straight OS6 without LR.

  • Yeah I understand but for magic items it doesn't apply. A char with two 100pts items isn't more elite than with 4 50pts items... Also, that's for magic items, but I find changes to units really great !

  • Why doesn't RT accept straight buff to magic items ? Since you pay for them and you have a hard cap of 100/200 you're character isn't getting stronger, you just have less stronger items. This is no power creep... Also other armies have >100 magic items.

  • Noone else is bothered by the min size of 4 for TB ? I quite often played a unit of three, but now I can't play my models anymore...

  • Pretty cool changes, I find AP2 on prince sweet. However it isIo buff with hero's blade however, and that was our best build (and Prince will cost more now so actually a nerf to our best build). A bit disappointed by the changes to our magic items. We need to see the price, but I think it will still be quite hard to find builds. The hereditary seems cool, but will need to try it to see if it is worth. It's versatile but never really powerfull. Cool changes to druids and unicorns, sad still no li…

  • Hi everyone ! With a few friends we plan to do a very large battle, 4v3 with 15000 pts on each side. Have you already done that kind of games ? What rule do you/would you use ? We think having a general and a BSB per player with commending presence limited to its own army, with maybe a single "Supreme General" with commending presence for evey allied unit ? Also what rule would you use for magic ? Standards rules would give very little magic across the battlefield. Do you think characters can go…

  • Yeah, to frequent/numberous main rulebook change add complexity and isn't really cool, but changes to army books are cool, because they make you say "Oh, this change seems cool, I can't wait to test is !". At least for me, the keep the game interesting and refreshing.

  • Since May is soone there and with it the may update, may we have an insight into what is comming ? In particular, is it planed that we'll get a working magic items section ?

  • Guys you're thinking it wrong. Buffing what is subpar and nerfing what is too strong is exactly the same from a balance point of view. Really, reducing cost of what is bad to the level of the best unit and then apply a % point increase on the whole book for external balance is strictly equivalent to nerfing the best units. So please don't argue over wether best entries should be nerfed or the opposite, this is pure external balance, data driven so that every army is close to 50% winrate, and is …

  • Quote from Ryasin: “Quote from Hachiman Taro: “More or less the reasoning on no light troops for Druid or mounts he takes is because RT are potently against anything they think might lead to an avoidance wizard, and no entreaty yet known under leaf or branch will sway them. Many have been tried, including all the ones I'm no doubt about to be reminded of. ” Reminder. What if we paint our druids green and mount them on a wolf Those kinds of light troop mounted wizards are just fine. ” Well Greens…
