@WhammeWhamme: Do ID have any connection to chaos in the new fluff? In other words: are they still these pure evil-minded dwarves that perverted the aspect of stubborn determination into grim and cold cruelty?

  • Quote from Giladis: “The concept is about warrior-wizards that are trying to find balance between being fighters and casters and also by balancing the philosophies of elven theology represented by the available paths. We currently have them being not as good Wizards as Mages but they are still on par with the best fighters which they should not be conceptually. In addition to that they are academics/scholars in a similar vein to Asfad Scholars so being BSB-s is not fitting either. ” A fighty cha…

  • @Giladis: Why do you think that our current MoCT would need a nerf? 1.) Do you think the option itself is too powerful design- and point-wise? (=too cheap / offers too many benefits) 2.) Do you consider our other choices to be reasonably priced and designed?

  • Quote from Giladis: “It is usually Perception or Awaken mixed with either Waters or Divergence. In most cases Perception + Awaken is an overkill. ” I was talking about a redundancy, as one of the two spells will get dispelled if you really need them . @Wesser: Quote: “Why not disallow the HWotF the ability to use shields? Oh, I think I heard that one already wink.png . The problem is that our vanilla commander is just not very useful outside of being the BSB. Eh, that applies to almost any non-c…

  • @Giladis: Perception of Strength + Awaken the Beast is the way to go there, right? Sadly there isn't okkams anymore, I remember the 50 spear horde with that spell .

  • Quote from N3okorrales: “A third of your army in 9 T3 wounds. ” If you don't engage in combat and dominate the range war, where is the problem?

  • Quote from Wesser: “Why not simply disallow MOCT from being BsB similar to why it was done with the SE Pathfinder kindred? ” Why not disallow the HWotF the ability to use shields? Oh, I think I heard that one already . The problem is that our vanilla commander is just not very useful outside of being the BSB. Quote from Wesser: “It's not like it's very fun to have combos that are near mandatory either. ” It is mandatory as you have to field a commander to get a BSB and now you can skip this othe…

  • @Calisson: What gives you the impression that I: Quote from Calisson: “do nothing, keep your hands in pocket, just whine. ” This time I won't take the bait and just leave it as is. One little example though: I played my Archmage on an Ancient Dragon without approval from the politburo . @skipschnit: Good to hear that; looking forward to these addons. Thanks for the insight. I'am especially interested how these naval battles will turn out . Quote from Giladis: “Considering we are building a setti…

  • @Giladis: Here are some ideas: - Epic Magic - Siege Battles - Skirmish (like Lord of the Rings) - Legendary Lords - 4 player battles (everyone starts on each corner and want to reach the center of the table, with buffs for someone who is being attacked by more than one player) - conqueror mode (a yearly season based global campaign with the worldmap seperated into different parts. like the game risk for example and with the whole community paricipating via battle reports) To summarize it: Stuff …

  • @Just_Flo: Sounds good to me . So the army book redesigns and the "fluffy"-expansions will be developed simultaneously? Would be great .

  • @elendor_f: The problem is that these additions will take a long time as they won't be on the schedule until all army books received their full redesign. So we are talking about 5 years or something on that scale, at least as far as I know. If there are any contrary informations, I would be glad to hear them .

  • @berti: They would have only one attack (A1), don't know if you saw it .

  • @matrim: Maybe there is a misunderstanding. I also don't want my HBE to be like Warriors of Chaos. But I think there is still a way to make them less like a glass cannon and more durable. In my opinion they are too vulnerable to shooting to fulfill their job as they have to reach combat with a decent amount of models to be effective. Plate armour would be one way to achieve that. And I wouldn't mind to give them a lower defensive skill in return or whatever. All your offensive combat stats are u…

  • Quote from Giladis: “The lists you posted tell me little beyond there is great diversity without knowing individual players skill outside what can be deduced from their placing. ” I'am not complaining about the list diversity overall, only the result in connection with the type of list. Quote from Giladis: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “but the complaints at hand are from people who want elite infantry to be more than 0-1. ” The HE army can play multiple elite infantry units in both defensive and of…

  • Quote from DanT: “Quote from Aegon: “I like: --> shooting, especially *pew pew* shooting not *ratatata* shooting --> DRAGONS; I mean seriously "where are my dragons!" --> Phoenixes, Griffons, Eagles, Lions all of these creatures --> Knights in heavy armour --> agile, but armoured "samurai-like" masters of close combat --> MAGIC, not that lame "potter-style" magic; I talk about summoning a firestorm and burning my enemies to the ground ” This is exactly where Giladis' and lpower's observations co…

  • Quote from Ipower: “Have you considered just playing dwarfs and calling them elves? They seem to solve all the issues you claim to have. ” I should report your post for this insult; to even consider calling these stinking smurfs elves *heresy* . However: (Hidden Content) I like: --> shooting, especially *pew pew* shooting not *ratatata* shooting --> DRAGONS; I mean seriously "where are my dragons!" --> Phoenixes, Griffons, Eagles, Lions all of these creatures --> Knights in heavy armour --> agil…

  • Quote from DanT: “If you make elves more elite, the battleline problems and beginner problems will only multiply. You either drop eliteness or drop movement. I don't see any other way to improve those two problems, barring some very clever FAB stuff that I can't foresee right now. ” I want to keep their current eliteness, but redesign their strengths/weaknesses. Less weak against shooting+CC attacks. Less strong by hitting simultaneously. Again, just one example. There are other ways to achieve …

  • Quote from Fnarrr: “And elf is fast and fragile. ” And a dwarf is slow and smells. Now they have march 9; do you want to change the other aspect as well? To be serious: I don't talk about T4, I talk about more armour (HBE+DE) and more OS/DS (all elves).

  • @DanT , I really want to dig into the core of the problem, at least my view of it . That is how I would characterise elven elite infantry: 1.) High Initiative = hitting before your enemy (most of the time) 2.) Expensive 3.) High dmg output 4.) Low defense, especially against ranged threats (magic+shooting) All these characteristics lead to somewhat extreme situations; either elves smash their opponent unit before they can react or don't inflict enough casualties and getting smashed in the backsw…

  • I wanted to mention the fact that elven elite infantry fights like a glass cannon (high dmg output, hit first, low defense) in general. Would you agree?
