  • Quote from hugomac: “- Drop it to 120 points, 5 less ” I think it needs to be at least 7pts less to make it worthwhile. No more than that - an 8pt drop would make it auto-include. Quote from hugomac: “- Augment the range to 18", this is totally justified by the augmented Inspiring Presence radius of the bloodline. They can even be linked. - Add to it: "one use only: the vampire gains Lightining Reflexes until the end of the turn" ” These are good ideas. Really like the one use only idea but thin…

  • I love the idea of being able to take more ethereal in an army. Maybe for every fell wraith you can take one unit of phantom host in core. That would diversify our weakest section and give the fell wraith a unique role without making it possible to spam even more wraiths. Cap it off by giving him 3+/4+ aegis, maybe increase points slightly and that's something I'd be interested in taking.

  • Quote from Alexwellace: “Even if it's only useful in that new role, having 1 usable role is better than have none, right? ” Yes and no. It still has to meet a certain minimum threshold of usefulness or I'll just stick to vampires and necromancers and think, my that's a cool rule - pity I'll probably never use it.

  • Quote from Extraordinary Legionnaire: “Quote from Alexwellace: “I agree that this is the rare case of a character deserving more special rules. Something to really give him a role other than “wraith with magic items”. A few role identifying idea rules: 1. MW2 against channel, he and his unit gain swift stride when charging a unit that contains channel. 2. All models killed by this model are converted into veil tokens, maximum 3 per turn. 3. When this model is in the winning side of combat all en…

  • What magical items would you really want to give him? I can't see that many that interest me.

  • Quote from Extraordinary Legionnaire: “Since UD kind of have the unit buff thing going on, what about a unit debuff to units in contact with the fell wraith? ” I like a debuff idea, but what should it be? Quote from Chaos_Prophet: “maybe all enemy units in contact gets -2ds or once per Game all enemy units in contact gets -1S and -1res for one turn. ” I feel like the fell wraith should be more distinct from the coven throne, which already has the -ds covered. I really like the once per game idea…

  • Quote from Extraordinary Legionnaire: “Quote from Grouchy Badger: “Quote from Extraordinary Legionnaire: “I think the wraith could be fixed with a cheap magic weapon, designed specifically for the wraith. I came up with the following to benefit the wraith specifically: Hand weapon, paired weapons or great weapon: 25 points (recommended). The bearer's OS is set to 4. The bearer gains +2 attacks. I also think this enchantment would be useful on a Barrow King, Courtier (Lamia, Strigoi), any Nosfera…

  • Quote from Vamp87: “Quote from Wesser: “Quote from Vamp87: “Just looking at what people are taking I would suggest making minimum units a little less expensive and each model a little more expensive so bigger units are more expensive and smaller units less so. I don't think the minimum 3 man squads of spawn are what people are taking them for. ” 3-man is the 2nd most favoured unit size after maxed. ” Yes, a couple lists took 1 3-man squad but I don't think this is really a problem. Interestingly…

  • Quote from supermercado08: “I would disagree 4 spawn always beat out 1 Vark. The 4+ Regen and 3+? (or is it 4?) Vampiric can be amazing depending on the matchup. I've had varks survive all game just because I was able to get them into combat round 2 and they started healing themselves back to full. My spawn almost never survive all game due to Frenzy forcing me to do bad charges sometimes and other times just range/magic rip into them with no saves. Granted I overestimate what they can fight, I …

  • Quote from Strahd: “Quote from supermercado08: “The other option is take away our march bubble and then autonomous wouldn't matter so much! ” absolutely agree with this but I never mention it as it will never happen. ” Have to disagree - the march bubble, the importance of the general - I'd hate to see that fluffiness lost. You know, I wouldn't mind just seeing the reapers advance move up to 8". I think you could get away without giving them autonomous. As for the spawn*, a points increase for a…

  • Quote from Extraordinary Legionnaire: “Ah, I see where you're coming from. I wouldn't say the option disappears entirely though as you could do a unit of 8 and a unit of 7 or 2 units of 8 as long as both did not have champions. ” True you could still have two big units, but I think it's nice to be able to actually max out the units if you want to in a standard game. And with so many people begging for core dire wolves to be in multiples of 5, I imagine I'm not the only one who'd be put off by th…

  • Quote from Extraordinary Legionnaire: “Quote from hugomac: “I think they are in a pretty good place rules-wise, but need a light point increase. 630 points for the full-equip unit (8 models with champion) is a little low, so: -Increase the base unit cost in 10 points, from 220 to 230 -Increase additional models from 78 to 85 With these changes, small units are still cheap, and the big one is 675 pts, much more fair for what it brings to the table (very fast, hard hitting autonomous unit that can…

  • Quote from Wesser: “if we want buffs elsewhere we'll probably need to take nerfs elsewhere ” This baffles me. We have a finite number of points to spend in an army and an even more finite number of points to spend in swift death, which I and many others are going to try to maximise in our lists. If we buff (without altering points) winged reapers so that we see more of them, we're not suddenly going to see OP armies with two units of 8 spawn and a unit of 6 reapers, because there isn't enough ro…

  • Quote from duxbuse: “So I guess how many points would vampire spawn need to be to make winged reapers an equivalent choice? ” I think the question you meant to ask was "how many points would winged reapers need to be to make them an equivalent choice to vampire spawns?". The answer to both questions is, it's hard to say how many points autonomous (because that is definitely a reason I don't even consider reapers) is really worth, as it's not about how it makes the model perform but how it fits i…

  • On what basis are VC considered OP? And who is crying this? @Grouchy Badger compiled a useful list of points scored by various races at ETC: Quote from Grouchy Badger: “So, average score inside top-10 teams is: 1) VS*: 84 2) WDG: 82 3) DL: 75 4) BH: 74 5) ID: 74 6) UD: 71 7) VC: 71 8) EoS: 70 9-10) DE, SA: 68,5 11-12) O&G*, HE: 67 13-14) SE, KoE: 65 15) OK: 61 16) DH: 58 Average score of all ETC armies: 1) DL: 69,30 2) UD: 66,55 3) EoS: 65,71 4) WDG: 64,77 5) BH: 64,13 6) VS: 62,46 7) VC: 62,43 …

I think it is just galling that you don't get bonuses for all the characters in the opponents army. Just because your opponent hides his characters in some bunker far from combat I don't get bonuses I paid points for? No wonder Hero's Heart is better. I mean the sword is called King Slayer after all, by buying it your opponent's general should just die. The sword was one of my favourites back in 8th edition but as deathstars seem to have gone out of fashion so has it. Its rules make sense, but i…

  • *Off topic* @Bugman - I wish I could like that twice. @grungimusic - I would also be interested in your sources. Could you please pm me too? @Grouchy Badger - I believe solar (in)activity is to blame for the little ice age - a search in that direction will, I'm sure, be interesting.

  • Quote from DJWoodelf: “Quote from Lakson: “Of course it’s not to late for non-warmachines players. But for those who already rebased 10 warmachines it could be punch in the face. ” every update somehow contained a punch in the face for some players, didnt it? ” Yeah, man up @Lakson! I'm with you @JD - all these entitled marmosets* expecting to be able to play with the miniatures they've spent time and money collecting and making and beautifying. What do they think, this project was designed to l…

  • Quote from Lakson: “ Of course it’s not to late for non-warmachines players. But for those who already rebased 10 warmachines it could be punch in the face. ” Supposing the decision was made to make them square, what (if anything) would mollify you?

  • Quote from piteglio: “in one thread, people complain because they're not being listened to (when making disrespectful and half-baked proposals). in another thread, people complain beause they're invited to participate to survey (which was announced months ago). #LoveTheCommunity ” 290289.jpg @Casp - you have it aright I think in saying the discussion should have been enough to make a decision. Having the survey now - so very late -feels like either a box-ticking exercise or a hope that the gener…
