Just so you know, Hard Target stacks with itself so if a unit is Skirmisher and has Hard Target as a rule, the enemy gets -2 to hit (and if you combine this with the Lightning Rod or The VD Divination spell, the enemy would get an additional -1 to hit).

Quote from Tubz: “No, but i converted my Verminguard with bulging muscles, so they are strength 6. .. Can only prep for what's in the rules i guess. ” I am not arguing against you, actually the opposite, but in the map pack I have, there is no regulated size of each of the terrain pieces, only position relative to the long and short table edges. Take map 4 from the map pack as an example. There is supposed to be two hills on the field, one on each side of the battlefield with defined positions, …

Quote from Tubz: “All the tables i play on are pre-defined (ETC) tables, so would be easy to pre-calc that if you wanted to go by the "center of gravity" definition. ” Yes, but are all terrain pieces actually used exactly the same size as on the ETC maps?

Well, if you want to be picky, the rulebook states that "All parts of the board that are not covered by any other kind of Terrain are considered to be Open Terrain." The center of the open terrain could thus be argued to depend on the size and placement of all other non-open terrain pieces, so if you have a larger area of non-open terrain on the opponent’s half of the table, this would mean that the center of the open ground is on your half of the table and vice versa. This of course depends on …

  • Quote from The Unmarked: “Safety in Numbers Units with this rule have two Discipline values labeled X[Y]. When a unit with this rule has more Health Points than all enemy units Engaged in Combat they use the X value when making Discipline Tests, but when they have fewer Health Points than enemy units Engaged in Combat they use the Y value. Note than a unit using its [Y] Discipline value may still use the Commanding Presence of the Army General if within range. This basically functions like an ad…

This depends on your opponent. Ruleswise, it is almost always a bad thing to have a bigger base so in most casual games, electing to place your model on a bigger base would be acceptable. However, in strict following the rules, you are not allowed to change the base size of your models so you could be disallowed to use the model but if you and your opponent agrees on it, then you are fine.

  • Quote from JimMorr: “Quote from hasker: “I assume you are after Swiftstride? Does it fit the army? ” I think they might use a distinct role to Plague Disciples. Swiftstride would provide it... Beastrider. Hmm. He would loose option to use Sceptre of Vermin Valour... and I still haven't tried 40 Giant Rats with vermin hulk rider hidden inside ” I understand what you are after and I am not saying you are wrong, but I am not sure that adding Swiftstride to Hulks would differentiate them from Plague…

  • Quote from JimMorr: “Well after some experience with normal hulks... don't you think they could be beasts not infantry? Or at least they could get 'beast upgrade', maybe with frenzy for balance? ” I assume you are after Swiftstride? Does it fit the army? Also, a problem with making them beasts is that you would need new rules on the Hulk bodyguard to allow him to join the unit without him being targeted by cannons/catapults (a infantry ridden by infantry stays infantry but a beast ridden by infa…

  • Cool concept and some really nice ideas. I have been working on something similar but can't find the time. Some ideas and comments for your consideration. Cool idea to combine VG and R@A into one unit. I assume that R@A can pick between spear and halberd, but right now they can choose one of spear, halberd, become VG or take a meatgrinder. The meatgrinder, can it leave and walk alone (or even join other units) like an individual model or is it tied to the unit you buy it with? If it is tied to i…

  • Quote from JimMorr: “1st one: supporting grind attack from flail is extra supporting attack or attack instead of standard attack? ” The supporting grind attack from a plague flail is an extra supporting attack in addition to normal attacks, just like any other grind attack. Quote from JimMorr: “Second: globe launcher rule deals only with LOS not with cover. If launcher LOS is blocked by terrain / models bigger than standard does it the target get Hard Cover? ” Are you refering to Volley fire or …

  • But isn't that more a fundamental design issue with the army, that almost all units are the same filling similar roles? The R@A are kind of average in all areas, which is how most units of the same type in most armies are designed. Giant rats are quicker but lack scoring, slaves are cheaper but lack scoring (and more rules), VG and PB are more about dealing damage (or carrying the lightning rod/push the pendulum) but cost more, which means they are lacking in some areas in favor of others. When …

  • Iis the problem with R@A a design issue or a pricing issue?

  • Another downside with the Plague Flail Grind attack is that a Patriarch on a pendulm can't use the grind from the Plague Flail the same turn that the pendulum does impact hits (If a model has both Grind Attacks and Impact Hits, it may only use one of these rules in the same Round of Combat (its controlling player may choose which)). This is not intenional but a side effect from the rules for grind attacks and should perhaps be looked at.

Quote from JimMorr: “Yeah they miss synergy with our main builds which are magic dependent. Maybe they could find a place as supporting wizards if they provided bound spells the way they did. It was not very creative solution but it worked. Alternative could be making them veil token batteries: let them store 2 more Veil tokens. Those 2 tokens can be siphoned next turn or can be burned for some effects in the shooting phase. ” That Veil token battery idea was really good.

The VS army overall is lacking in one major area and that is duality. Most other armies have units/entries that can perform dual tasks, e.g. a character that both provides a good Di boost to units AND provides something more. When building a list, most players need a few roles in the army filled, and if you can take entries that can fill several of these roles you free up points for other (fun) things. VS as an army is lacking in this area as most (not all but most) entries only can fill a singl…

  • Quote from Joram: “Quote from hasker: “Nothing stops you, and it is quite common to do so, but please remember that the unit becomes slower this way (you use the lowest movement value). ” Unless you use a Chief with Fetthis Broddmaster : he will move as fast as a Giant Rat. ” Well, the question was for cheap mage bunker or assassins, neither of those can take the Fetthis upgrade so that is irrelevant. You could of course give them the Rangers Boots to bring them up to speed (or the Scurrying Vei…
