  • Quote from ElGungo: “Will the moment come when the RT notices that they completely detached from big parts of the community? If yes, will they care? If an AB with a small community gets ignored, some strange Math is privileged over experience and Common Sense, I see no bright future for this system here. ” The RT knows they don't read every forum post and that the community often disagrees with their decisions. They're also pretty sure that there's literally no way they could do their job that w…

  • I didn't tier things; that was other people, to the best of my knowledge based on extensive data analysis. There were three tiers, with 11 armies in the "middle tier" of "data indicates these are roughly equal". The data was inadequate to separate armies into more categories than three. And just a note: "Always Charging" was the name. I thought it'd be a flavourful way to work around ASAW - since we're not allowed to get worse in round two, keep hitting them with pseudo impact hits. Altho' again…

  • Quote from Jarec: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Quote from Jarec: “Has Fear been considered for the Anointed? Seems that many other same sized creatures have it already. ” Not particularly; they're hardly the most supernaturally fearsome of creatures in the world of the Ninth Age, and it wouldn't really solve their mechanical issues ("inferior to Kadims" being the lead there). ” But surely more fearsome than domesticated baby griffons? Is the mechanical issue just the point cost, or is there somethi…

  • Quote from ElGungo: “I absolutely cannot understand why Annointed remained unchanged! The unit is much too overpriced! Just because people may play units does not mean they have a proper price tag. There might just not be proper alternatives. So to just work on the units below 5% is a weak Update, especially given the time it took for the finishing of this update! LG ” The EE votes + the survey votes did not lead to an initial change. And they were over the 5% threshold for ACS to push them thro…

  • Quote from Traumdieb: “Sorry I think the policy about updates at T9A need a rethink. All armies get the same amount of buffs and there is no consideration like what people got a lot. There are a lot of players that have a small range of units so cheap units like rocket Launcher at Forgrworld armies, besides it was a very often played unit in the last version. I am sure the use of rocket Launcher dropped significant in Version 2. Everyone tests for instance rocket Batterie because it sounds cool …

  • Quote from Tyranno: “Quote from Kathal: “Anointed? Greetings, Kathal ” Not a chance in hell they were below 5%. Mostly because they are popular in the UK. (Don't ask me why. I think they are crap) ” They're bad Kadims that don't come out of Bound and Binders! And that can be Good Enough (TM).

  • Quote from Traumdieb: “If two options were available why choose disciples and core? ” We needed something that wasn't above 5% and wasn't already scheduled for a cut. That meant unused magic items or (as we ended up picking) Lugar GW and Backstabbers. We (the ID ACS) *wanted* to pick the Rocket Battery, but it was above 5%. We could've picked items, but we felt that units were more important than items. Quote from Jarec: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Backstabbers are, point for point, now pretty co…

  • Quote from JamesMcDonnell: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Rocket Battery: Design was not RT, it was ID ADT/the 2.0 update team. Lack of price correction should be blamed on the EE (who did not vote for it to be repriced), perhaps Tyranno (going with a survey not a poll was disastrous although he had no way of knowing that) and the ID players who took it to enough big tournaments that it showed up in 6% of all lists (thus rendering it ineligible for the 'under 5%' repricing) - or if you prefer, blame…

  • Quote from Ferkinason: “Update overall is disappointing. No changes to rocket battery (good job designing this abomination rules team btw! , immortals (still too expensive, especially with great wepons) and not enough for the blunderbusses (still too expensive and no banners except with bsb). I appreciate the other points costs changes but it is still not enough to level things like backstabbers and lammasu. Pretty funny that the suggestions of making some/all of the lammasus abilities optional …

  • Quote from Irondaemon: “So we shouldn’t test test the overpriced things - or at least not report it/play in tournaments - as it will be regarded as a good choice? Good to know... ” Not to tournaments with 30+ attendees. Except of course the criteria may be different next time.

  • Quote from Auere: “I have three armies - HBE, OK and ID - and out of these three, ID's update was the more disappointing. OK and HBE army books had WAY more adjustments even though I considered their internal balance in 2.04 to be better than ID. So a bit surprising I mean its not rocket science to see that the rocket battery needs a reduction in price And there are more similar cases of "everyone agrees that this is overpriced and noone use it" but this somehow managed to escape the update anyw…

  • Quote from Doug_L: “Holy 15ppm on chariots!! Whatever happened to the measured 10pts here, 20pts shown on other changes? Most of the lists I've played recently are now 60 to 80pts more expensive on chariots alone. That's a big change. Add in the sphinx/shabti debuffs and my ETC list is 165 pts more expensive. I assume the intention is not to debuff what is perceived as a top army but to whack it hard down to the floor to see what else rises up from other books? You know, I've picked up my beastm…

  • Quote from Herminard: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “"T9A needs some power creep right now" is much easier to defend than "power creep is always good". It is a reasonable view to hold and not obviously wrong. ” It is true that I feel that it would not be healthy for the game to reduce the power of the game further, but I am not advocating power creep. I will reiterate my argument on the case if my phrasing was unclear. ” Making things stronger without making anything weaker is power creep. It is als…

  • Quote from Manxol: “WotDG come out 10 months ago, and we are still waiting DL book. Even if I can see than ID should be easier than DL book to make, I wouldn't expect it before next ETC, IMHO ” Than DL plus numerous updates to the core rules and all 14 other army books. I wouldn't expect it before next ETC either, but I wouldn't rule it out.

  • Quote from JamesMcDonnell: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “Quote from Feanor83: “Quote from WhammeWhamme: “It's not about "when we finally get them right" - ID may well get FABbed before the next balance tweak hits, and then get the FAB numbers tweaked by it. ” Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing (FAB soon or next tweak taking ages). ” Neither am I! In theory it would be "ID FAB soon" not "next tweak take ages" - but the future is hard to see. ” so the FAB can be expected soon? This is good to h…

  • Quote from umbranar: “In my opinion the simple data analysis is not enough to fix UD back to the center balance-wise. Yes some of the main offenders need to change, points being the easiest solution. However unit presence should not be leading. What I think is going wrong, is the fact that with most updates only one path is taken: points. Combine this with redesigns, big and small. Skeleton Cavalry have no clear role as they are also stuck to the march bubble. Skeleton warriors are used as throw…
